Definitions
- Liquid Container provided with a re- closing member
- the object of the invention is a liquid container, which is at least partly made of packaging laminate, which consists of fibre and thermoforming plastic layers and which liquid container contains an opening for filling and/or emptying and a detachable closure strip, which is fitted to close the opening.
- Disposable liquid containers are used nowadays increasingly for packaging liquid foods, such as milk, juice and wine.
- these liquid containers are made of pre-manufactured, laminated packaging material, which comprises of the liquid packaging board body of the container, which is coated on at least one and usually on both sides with thin liquid- and gas-tight thermoplastic layers, for example with polyethylene layers.
- Liquid containers are also ordinarily equipped with some kind of an opening device, for example a tear or cut marking or a detachable pull tab, which is fastened on top of the emptying aperture in such a way as to make it liquid- and gas-tight.
- an opening device for example a tear or cut marking or a detachable pull tab, which is fastened on top of the emptying aperture in such a way as to make it liquid- and gas-tight.
- This type of liquid container is known, for example, from Fl-patent application publication 974024, from publication EP 0 155 600 and from Fl-patent application publication 962248.
- An opening device which comprises of an emptying aperture pre-punched in the material and on top of that a detachable pull tab joined in such a way that it is liquid- and gas-tight, has many advantages: the opening device is easy to use, it can be attached to the packaging material beforehand and its costs are reasonable.
- a problem with these known liquid containers is, however, the fact that a user or a consumer can not close the liquid container opening, because the detachable closure strip is usually attached by heat-sealing or laminating to the liquid container and is thus only meant to be opened one time and is thus not re- sealable. This might for example cause the opened liquid container's liquid content to spoil if the liquid content is allowed to react with air. This kind of an opened liquid container is thus not usually suitable as a container for storing the liquid product.
- the aim of the invention is thus to develop a liquid container, which solves the above-mentioned problem.
- the aims of the invention are achieved with a liquid container which is characterised by the fact that a re-sealing member is attached to the detachable closure strip, with the aid of which member the opening is re-closable after the closure strip has been at least partly detached.
- liquid containers can, for example, be equipped with a self-adhesive sticker or the like, which is glued at least partly on top of the closure strip, and in this way a closable liquid container is obtained.
- a liquid container in accordance with the invention is its simplicity and for this reason its manufacturing costs are reasonable. Also, the liquid container in accordance with the invention is easy to use, in other words it is easily closed. In addition, a liquid container in accordance with the invention can be made of recyclable material. In addition, a solution in accordance with the invention enables neat closing and opening. Also, a solution in accordance with the invention enables the repeated closing and opening of the liquid container.
- figure 1 represents the liquid container
- figure 2 represents the liquid container seen from one end face.
- Figure 1 shows a liquid container, which is cylinder-shaped so that it has a cylinder-shaped container surface 1 and two end faces 2.
- the liquid container can be of a different shape from that which is shown in the figure.
- the liquid container is at least partly made of packaging laminate, which consists of fibre and thermoforming plastic layers.
- Figure 1 represents a kind of a liquid container that is made entirely of packaging laminate.
- the liquid container may also comprise other materials, such as thermosetting plastic.
- the end faces 2 of the liquid container in figure 1 can be made of thermosetting plastic.
- the liquid container includes an opening 3 for filling and/or emptying the liquid container and a detachable closure strip 4, which is preferably fitted to close the opening 3 so that the opening is liquid- and air-tight.
- Figure 1 represents a kind of a liquid container, where the opening 3 is in one end face 2 of the liquid container. Because liquid containers of this type are known as such, they are not described in any greater detail in this context.
- the re-closing member 5 the purpose of which is to re-close the opening 3 after the closure strip 4 has been at least partly detached from the opening 3.
- the opening 3 is advantageously, but not necessarily closable by using the closure strip 4.
- the advantageously detachable closure strip 4 is at least partly detachable from the opening 3 with the aid of the re-closing member 5.
- the closure strip 4 can, for example, be such that it is detached from the liquid container by gripping the re-closing member 5, whereby the closure strip 4 is simultaneously detached from the liquid container. This kind of a solution makes it easier to open the liquid container's closure strip 4 in accordance with the invention.
- the advantageously detachable closure strip 4 can be fitted on top of the opening 3 with the aid of the re-closing member 5.
- the closure strip 4 can, for example, be such that it is placed on top of the opening 3 by gripping the re- closing member 5 and taking the closure strip 4 with the re-closing member 5 on top of the opening 3, whereby the re-closing member 5 is simultaneously attached to the liquid container.
- This kind of a solution makes it easier to close the liquid container's closure strip 4 in accordance with the invention.
- the re-closing member 5 is advantageously a flap or a comparable sheet- like piece that is at least partly attached with adhesive to the detachable closure strip 4 and by means of adhesive detachably attached to the liquid container, and that can be re-attached to the liquid container.
- the re-closing member 5 is more advantageously a self-adhesive sticker or comparable. If the liquid container is meant for foodstuffs, the adhesive is advantageously of the type fit for use with foodstuffs.
- the adhesive is advantageously so strong and gripping, that the closure strip 4 can be detached from the top of the opening 3 by detaching the re-closing member 5 at least partly, whereby the flap- or a sticker-shaped closure strip 4 attached with adhesive to the re-closing member 5 is simultaneously at least partly detached from the liquid container so that the liquid in the liquid container can be passed out of the liquid container via the opening 3.
- the re-closing member 5 is a flap which is attached with adhesive, or if the re-closing member 5 is a sticker, the re-closing member 5 is advantageously attached on top of a surface of the liquid container that is essentially smooth. This kind of a solution results in the re-closing member 5 adhering better to the liquid container.
- the opening 3 is made in one liquid container end face 2, which end face is smooth.
- the re-closing member 5 is a flap that is attached with adhesive, or if the re-closing member is a sticker, the area of the re-closing member 5 is greater than the area of the closure strip 4.
- a flap, sticker or comparable piece advantageously covers fully the detachable closure strip 4. By using a sufficiently big flap, sticker or comparable piece, an area is created between the re-closing member 5 and the liquid container whereby the re-closing member 5 can adhere to the liquid container. If the re-closing member 5 is a flap, its other side is advantageously fully coated with adhesive.
- the re-closing member 5 incorporates advantageously a grip 6 to help in gripping the re-closing member 5.
- the grip 6 is advantageously seamlessly attached to the re-closing member 5.
- the grip 6 can, for example, be an unglued tab in the re-closing member 5, the width of which is approximately 5 millimetres.
- the re-closing member 5 is advantageously made of polypropylene or polyester or a comparable material, the thickness of which is 70 - 120 ⁇ m.
- the adhesive is advantageously acrylate dispersion glue or a comparable substance, the amount of which is approximately 20g/m 2 .
- the adhesive should be such that the opening 3 can be closed with the re-closing member 5.
- the re-closing member 5 can be attached to the packaging laminate before the liquid container is made, or at the same time as the liquid container is being made. It is obvious to those skilled in the art that as technology develops, the basic idea of the invention can be executed in many different ways. The invention and its embodiments are thus not restricted to the above-mentioned examples, but they may vary within the scope of the patent Claims.
