Description

Glasbalustrade für eine Personenförderanlage Glass balustrade for a passenger conveyor system
The invention relates to a glass balustrade for a passenger conveyor system, in particular an escalator or a moving walk.
It is generally known to provide balustrades either from sheet metal or from glazing for escalators and escalators, with segment fields being provided in both cases, which extend over the length of the escalator or escalator. At the bottom, the segments are at least guided in corresponding holders and accommodate profile elements for guiding the handrail on the side facing away from them.
In accordance with the applicable safety standard for the construction and installation of escalators and moving walks (DIN EN 115), the use of glass is permitted for the interior balustrade cladding if splinter-free single-pane safety glass (tempered glass) is used and sufficient mechanical strength and rigidity are ensured.
For certain applications, single glazing over traffic areas where, due to particularly high and long-lasting traffic, personal injury due to the removal of dangerous glass fragments is considered to be inadmissible.
The aim of the subject matter of the invention is to provide a solution, taking into account the applicable standard, which also does justice to the specific application.
This goal is achieved by a glass balustrade for a passenger conveyor system, in particular an escalator or a moving walkway, consisting of several glass segments arranged one behind the other, viewed in the direction of transport, which are clamped on the one hand in corresponding holders and which on the other hand hold profiles for guiding a handrail, at least parts the glass segments consist of a single-pane safety glass of predeterminable thickness, which is provided at least on one side with a film, on which a further single-pane safety glass, also of a predeterminable thickness, is applied.
Advantageous developments of the subject matter of the invention can be found in the associated subclaims.
It is also proposed to use glass segments consisting of at least two single-pane safety glasses with a film arranged between them as balustrades for passenger conveyors, in particular for escalators and moving walks. The thickness of the glass panes is preferably selected differently, the thicker glass pane being firmly clamped together with the film in the region of the respective holder. This measure has the advantage that due to the otherwise impossible clamping of both glass panes (risk of breakage) the applicable standard can be taken into account, while at the same time the indicated problem is eliminated without having to make major changes to the design. The thinner pane, which according to a further concept of the invention is provided outside the transport area, ends above the clamping area of the brackets receiving the balustrade.
If desired, thinner glass panes can of course also be applied to both sides of the thicker glass pane using appropriate foils, which are then also not included in the clamping area.
Preferred dimensions of the thicker glass pane are seen between 10 and 15 mm and the thinner glass pane in the range between 2 and 6 mm, foils with thicknesses between 0.5 and 1.5 mm preferably being used. In the event of glass breakage in individual glass segments, the glass fragments of this pane (s) then adhere to the film, so that personal injury caused by the removal of dangerous glass fragments is unlikely.
Preferred applications of the subject matter of the invention are, taking into account the high and long-lasting number of people, e.g. inner-city pedestrian zones, traffic areas of department stores or waiting halls of train stations and airports.
The subject matter of the invention is illustrated in the drawing using an exemplary embodiment and is described as follows.
The only figure shows the balustrade of a passenger conveyor system, not shown, which can be an escalator in this example. The balustrade consists of glass and is formed from a plurality of glass segments 1 arranged one behind the other, which are formed from a thicker glass pane 2, a thinner glass pane 3 and a film 4 arranged between them, the glass panes 2, 3 each being formed from single-pane safety glass. In this example, the thicker glass sheet 2 should have a thickness of 12 mm, the thinner glass sheet 3 should have a thickness of 4 mm and the film 4 arranged between them should have a thickness of 1 mm. On the bottom side, the thicker glass pane 2 is not only guided together with the film 4 in the area of a holder 5, but is also firmly clamped for safety reasons, while the thinner glass pane 3 remains outside the clamping area 6 and is therefore only guided becomes. The holder 5 consists of a fixed component 7 and a movable retaining clip 8. The respective balustrade segment 1 is guided on the one hand via screw-shaped adjusting elements 9 and adjusting screws 10 and, on the other hand, firmly clamped together with the film 4.
In this case, the transport area of the escalator (not shown further) is indicated by reference number 11, the glass pane 2 to be clamped in being provided on the transport side and the thinner glass pane 3 being provided in the protected area facing away from the transport area 11. If glass breakage actually occurs in one of the segments 1, glass fragments stick to the film 4, so that personal injury is to be regarded as unlikely. In the area facing away from the holder 5, profiles 12 are provided, which are attached to the end area 14 of the segments 1 via corresponding holding elements 13 and are provided for guiding the handrail 15, which is only indicated.
