- the light produced by the heating process passes through the walls reducing and contrasting the visibility of the decorations which in some areas change in color because some physical properties also change; in fact the visibility of the decorations lowers when the light intensity increases and it grows when the intensity decreases.
- the light coming from the outside passes through the walls and generates some physical phenomena which change from place to place depending on the type of the decorations, emphasizing the works of art and changing the walls into ornamental objects that embellish the heaters harmonizing them with the surroundings.
- the working procedures to obtain these results are obtained applying the following techniques on the outer side of the walls: when paintings are used one can use transparent and opaque colors; by the use of transparent colors during the working time, the painted walls allow to see through them and although the decorations lose their image sharpness or brightness they still embellish the sight created by the light generated into the heater. The sharpness comes back again when the heater in not working; using the opaque colors the decorations keep always the same clearness and sharpness but the transparency of the wall is reduced (the best thing to do is to use them on the borders of the walls to create a kind of framework).
- the walls change from diaphanous to translucent during and after working time because they have areas with different reflecting and refractive properties as well as different dispersion, absorption and fluorescence properties.
- Making the decorations with the use of the mould technique one can obtain ornamental works that are visible during working time and are even more visible after it; besides, the mould generates areas with different physical properties on the walls because of their different thickness.
- the serigraphy, mosaic and plating techniques also allow to use the light effects to see through the walls either to embellish them during working conditions and either to have decorations visible during and after the working time of the heater.
- the chemical composition of the mixture which makes up the walls acts as an embellishment during functioning time and also behaves as decoration before and after.
- This can be achieved using a homogeneous or heterogeneous mixture made up of substances that make up the transparent materials, realizing walls of different colors made up of visible substances with different shapes and colors with refraction, reflection, absorption and dispersion indexes different from those of the other substances of the material. Otherwise one can use materials having luminescent and phosphorescent properties and in this case the walls and the decorations become a decorative embellishment even if there is no light.
- the luminescent and phosphorescent substances can be used to create decorations on the walls by means of paintings, mosaic, plating and other techniques.
- the walls can also be thermo-regulated in order to increase or decrease the light intensity that passes through them depending on their temperature; by using more than one wall or united or coupled transparent layers, it is possible to achieve, on one or both sides, the kind of decorations mentioned before thus obtaining a transparent wall.
- a further resulting effect that is possible to obtain creating walls with ornamental workings or simply coloring them is that to modify the colors, the forms and the images generated on the inside and on the outside of the heater, managing to concentrate and to reflect (on some area of the wall) both the inside and the outside coming light.
- the procedure is that to introduce into an oven at high temperature some materials like colors or bonding agents that are applied on the surface of the transparent walls in the following manner. Fist of all one must determine the thickness and the chemical composition of the transparent wall and then one must analyze the colors or the glues used to print or to bind together glasses or ceramic materials and add to them those chemical substances which are contained into the materials that make up the walls but that are absent (or contained in small proportions) into the materials that make up the colors or the glues. All of this is useful to equalize the thermic dilation coefficients and the heat-transmission coefficients of the transparent wall and the ornamental workings.
- the following step is to calculate the temperature of the heating oven (depending on the thickness and the chemical composition of the transparent wall) and also how long these decorated walls must stay in it.
- the purpose is to reach a temperature that is capable to dilate or to soften up the outer surface of the decorated wall and also to melt the colors or the bonding agents avoiding at the same time that an excessive amount of heat enters the wall or that a temperature too high or a prolonged heating time may damage the ornaments.
- the wall has to be cooled in a particular and differentiated manner, and the surface without the art workings has to come in contact with a heat-exchanger capable to cool it rapidly and to absorb and to transfer the heat from the inner part of the wall to the outside.
