  • An alternative method which is used, is to install the splice closures in manholes or handholes, i.e. large permanent buried enclosures normally constructed from concrete, which are designed to provide a large space in the ground from which the surrounding soil is excluded. This has the disadvantage of being very expensive and providing less flexibility in the location of the cable splice.

Abstract

L'invention se rapporte à un ensemble de pièces permettant d'enfermer de façon à la protéger une épissure de câble exposée, pratiquée entre au moins deux câbles qui sont tirés dans des gaines. Ledit ensemble comporte: a) une enveloppe interne conçue pour enfermer l'épissure de câble exposée; b) un logement externe protecteur et amovible permettant d'enfermer complètement l'enveloppe interne, ledit logement ayant au moins une extrémité ouverte ou susceptible d'être ouverte, conçue pour recevoir une région terminale d'une gaine portant un câble épissé et c) un bloc terminal conçu pour bloquer l'extrémité du logement autour de la région terminale de la gaine de câbles.
