Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé d'épuration catalytique conçu pour éliminer instantanément le monoxyde de carbone (CO) présent dans des gaz de combustion provenant de dispositifs produisant de la fumée ou d'autres dispositifs de combustion, incluant des pipes, moteurs, chaudières, turbines à gaz, fours ou incinérateurs. Des fils minuscules ou très fins d'oxydes métalliques solides, non toxiques, stables et inertes sont répartis à l'intérieur ou à proximité du matériau de combustion, dans le flux de gaz de combustion très chauds, ou à l'intérieur ou à proximité d'un collecteur d'échappement. Les catalyseurs qui comprennent des filtres de laine constitués de fils longs et très fins, entrelacés de façon non serrée, et qui sont maintenus en place, sont chauffés immédiatement par les gaz de combustion, et transforment instantanément le monoxyde de carbone sur les surfaces du catalyseurs en dioxyde de carbone non toxique. Dans les espaces ou les cabines occupés, lesdits filtres de catalyseur en laine fine, une fois installés dans l'alimentation d'air ou les conduits de circulation de systèmes de climatisation, sont chauffés par des charges électriques, des rayonnements ou des micro-ondes, immédiatement après le démarrage du ventilateur, sans trop chauffer le flux d'air, et transforment le monoxyde de carbone contenu dans le flux d'air en dioxyde de carbone, sur les surfaces du catalyseur.
