Abstract

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft einen Gasgenerator (1) für ein Airbagsystem eines Fahrzeugs, mit einem wenigstens teilweise aus Kunststoff gefertigten und aus einem oder mehreren Gehäuseteilen (2, 3) aufgebauten Gehäuse (4) und einer in dem Gehäuse (4) gebildeten, einen aktivierbaren Treibstoff (6) enthaltenden Brennkammer (5). Der erfindungsgemäße Gasgenerator ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Kunststoff eine unterhalb der Aktivierungstemperatur des Treibstoffs (6) liegende Schmelztemperatur (Tsch) oder Verbrennungstemperatur aufweist, und im Falle einer erhöhten Wärmeeinwirkung von außen schmilzt oder verbrennt, bevor die Aktivierungstemperatur des Treibstoffs erreicht ist.
