FRAME, IN PARTICULAR FRAME FOR POST ASSEMBLAGE
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a frame, in particular a frame for post assemblage, of the type which comprises frame parts consisting of two profile parts, which frame parts are arranged to be mounted in a wall opening and to be fixed relative to each other and against the side edges of the wall opening by fixing means.
DESCRIPTION OF THE KNOWN TECHNOLOGY AND THE PROBLEM Todays rapid building technique and demand for rationalization have led to the fact that one prepares walls and wall openings and mounts frames for doors and windows afterwards. This makes the work independent of deliveries from frame, door or window manufacturers. This method further means that the post mounted frame has to be adjustable and adaptable to the wall or wall opening as the thickness of the wall can vary.
There are specially made frames of steel sheet having a loose dressing which is delivered cowelded, ready for mounting. The steel frame is placed in the ready meade wall opening, is fixed to the wall, and the loose dressing part is thread on from the opposite side onto the steel frame and is screwed to this. The screw holes and the screws, respectively, have to be hidden by plastic plugs. The loose dressing part makes it possible to adapt the frame to different wall thicknesses, but it can not be varied with regard to the thickness of the door leaf. It can not be placed against an outer wall as it does not break the thermal bridge.
THE OBJECT OF THE INVENTION AND THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM The object of the present invention is to obtain a frame intended for doors, windows, or the similar, which frame is simple to mount and to adjust afterwards without any visible screws or plastic plugs, which frame is adaptable to different standards with regard to wall thicknesses, door leaf thickness, hinges, striking plates, and rests, which frame is dressing forming on both sides, alternatively designed with a bevelling frame, which frame fulfills high requirements for fire, heat, and sound isolation, which frame breaks thermal bridges, and which frame requires a little space at transport and storage.
These tasks have been solved by means of the present invention as the profile parts each is substantially L-shaped and arranged to overlap each other at least partly with their base legs and to be connected to each other, that one, the first profile part is designed to form a fixed frame part relative to the ..side edge of the wall opening, which side edge is placed at a distance from said side edge by means of axially adjustable distance means, that the second profile part is movable in transverse direction relative to the first profile part, and is fixable in different moved positions by means of said fixing means , and that a disposable rest for the door leaf being mountable to said fixed profile part is arranged to cover said distance means and fixing means.

DESCRIPTION OF EMBODYING EXAMPLES The frame 10 according to the present invention consists substantially of three parts, viz. two side frame profiles 1 1, only one being shown in Fig. 1 , a frame top piece 13 and a rest 12 forming the frame notch. The side frame profile 11 and the frame top piece 13 are both of
the same construction and comprises at least two, substantially L-shaped profile parts 1 la, and 13a, respectively, and l ib, and 13b, respectively. The frame is preferably built by moduls, i.e., all parts are separately manufactured and later assembled.
In order to simplify the description reference is only made to one frame side part 1 1 in the following, but the same fastening and adjusting principles are of course due for the second frame side part.
The frame side part 11 consists of two parts, a first profile part 1 la being L-shaped in cross- section, and a second profile part 1 lb, being L-shaped as well. These are. at certain intervals along their extensions, connected to each other via connecting means 14. and mounted to the side edge 19a of a wall opening present in wall 19, by means of screws 37. At least one profile part is adjustable relative to the other and relative to one of the flat sides of the wall.
In Figs. 2 and 3 the two profile parts 11 a and 1 1 b are brought together, and a rest 12 is mounted. The connecting means 14 are, in this example, steel screws, which cooperate with grooves 17 being perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the the profile part in the one profile part 1 lb and a hole in the other profile part 1 la, whereby an adjustment and fixation of the profile parts relatively to each other can be obtained.
The parts 1 la and 11 b form together a substantially U-shaped profile, the legs 18a. 18b of which can extent partly over the side edge 19a of the wall opening and thereby form the dressing of the frame. The ends 20a and 20b of the legs are bent so that they form a U, the one side 21a nad 21b, respectively, forms the abutment surface against the wall 19. The distance between the abutting surfaces 21 a and 21 b and the wall 19 can be adjusted in accordance with the procedure described above at the adjustment of the profile parts relative to each other.
The distance between the side edge 19a and the bottom 29a and 29b of the U-shaped profile 11 can be adjusted as well, by means of the distance means 16 which mainly comprises a bolt 22 the end of which abutting the wall has a hexagonal head 23, while the other end is provided with a groove for a screw driver 24 (Fig. 2) or an insix hole allowing a turning of
the bolt. A nut 25, e.g., in the form of a rivet having inner threads, is arranged to cooperate with the bolt 22 and is connected to the rear side of the first profile part 1 1 b via a hole arrnged herein and firmly riveted so that a rivet head 26 is formed.
As evident from Figs. 2 and 4 two distance means 16 with attached rivets 25 are arrnaged somewhat displaced relative to each other both in vertical and horisontal directions on both sides of a screw 37 for firmly screwing the first profile 1 lb and 13b, respectively, to the side edge 19a of the wall. The second part of the profile part 1 la is provided with recesses 28 (Fig. 2), which frees space for the distance means 16 and the screw 37 which facilitates the mounting of the frame.
One longitudinal edge 31 of the first profile part 1 lb and 13b, respectively, is bent, substantially S-shaped, for a hooking assembling cooperation with a substantially V-shaped leg 30 along one side edge of the rest 12. In order to fix the rest 12 onto the frame part 29b, particular L-shaped fastening washers 32 (fig.l) are arrnged, suitably fastened by means of some of the nut rivets 25, 26. One side of the fastening washer 32 is bent in such a way that it forms a flange 33, substantially perpendicular to the leg 29b of the profile part. The flange 33 is provided at both ends with a pair of ears 34 bent outwardly from the flange, to cooperate with the rest 12. The ears 34 provide elastic properties to the washer 32 and allow the rest 12 to be snapped onto place by first providing its V-shaped leg 30 into a groove of the S-shaped longitudinal edge 31 and then snapping the other leg 35 over the ears 34. Both the flange 33 of the washer 32 and the leg 35 of the rest are provided with holes 37 for screws 36 which fix the rest to the frame part 1 lb and 13b, respectively.
The frame side part 1 1 can be provided with openings 38 (Figs. 1 and 4) as well, for hinges and recesses for locks (not shown), already at the manufacture, which reduces later work at the building place. The openings 38 can be arranged close to the distance means 16 so that these can be used as fastening devices for the hinges.
The frame side parts 11 are at least at their one upper end bevelled substantially 45 ° to receive the ends of the frame top piece 13. These are cut perpendicular and are provided with substantially triangular depressions 40 the depth of which substantially corresponds to the
thickness of the material of the profile parts, and the angle of which between the base and the side edges are substantially 45 °. These depressions 40 are intended to be brought in behind the bevelled point of the frame side part 1 1 and to form the upper corner of the frame. A notch 41 is arranged close to the abutment surface 21a and 21b of the frame side part by receiving, and inwardly bending a tongue provided with a hole. In the ends of the top piece 13 of the frame holes 42 are arranged for receiving screws intended to fix the frame parts 1 1 and 13 to each other.
The corresponding abutting and overlapping legs 29a, 29b of the frame parts 1 1a. l ib and 13a, 13b have not the same length, e.g., the contact surface 29b of the profile part 1 1 b extends over the contact surface 29a of the profile part la and is substantially longer than the surface 29a.
As evident from Figs. 4 and 5 each their tongue 39 are arranged at the end of the frame parts in the same angle as the mitre joint (Fig. 4) or the bevelled transition line (Fig. 5) of the depression 40. In another embodiment one and/or both frame profiles 1 1. 13 may be provided with holes which by means of separate corner fittings facilitate the joining of the frame.
The embodiment of Fig. 6 differs from the aforegoing embodiment as the profile part of the frame part 1 1 a has a leg 18a which is shorter than the leg part 18b of the profile part 1 1 b and thus forms a notch frame. It is evident that the two legs 18a and 198b can be manufactured short and both be fastened to the bevelling.
In stead of, or in combination with the tongues 39, the joining of the frame parts 1 1 and 13 can be carried out in accordance with what has been shown in Figs. 7 and 8, wherein the connecting ends of the top piece of the frame part are provided with hooks 45, which can be hooked into the corresponding hooks 46 at the connecting ends of the frame side parts. The fixation of the parts can be carried out either by the same way as shown in Fig. 1, i.e.. via the holes 42 and the notch 41, or by a slot 47 arranged into the depression 40, below which slot an inwardly bent locking tongue 48 has been arranged which can be brought to snap behind the notch 41.
The hollow space of the frame parts restricted by the wall 19, can be filled with an isolating material, as evident from Fig. 6. Thermal bridges can be avoided by using isolating strips 45 in the contact surfaces between the wall and the profile, between the profile parts, and between the door leafs and the rest.
The constructional details of the frame can be made of steel sheet, aluminum, polymers and the like.
The invention has been illustrated and described as embodying examples only and it is obvious that several variations and modifications within the scope of the accompanying claims can be present. The nuts 25 can be attached inwardly, or alternatively, outwardly, from the door opening to meet the standards of different countries concerning opening and door measures. In the same way the width of the frame and the design thereof can be adapted to different door rebate depths.
