Definitions
- the present invention relates to a reception antenna intended to receive signals from a geostationary satellite.
- the invention finds a particularly advantageous application in the field of transmission of television signals, whether intended for individual or collective use.
- the reception antennas used are essentially of the offset type due to their great compactness. Thanks to its off-center, the source of this family of satellite dishes does not make any shadow on the surface reflecting the signal, which provides better gain and therefore makes it possible to reduce the dimensions of the antenna.
- the technical problem to be solved by the object of the present invention is to provide a reception antenna intended to receive signals from a geostationary satellite, comprising in particular a reflector in the form of a paraboloid capable of reflecting the signals received and to concentrate them at a focal point where a source is arranged capable of guiding said signals towards a frequency converter, receiving antenna which would make it possible to avoid the problems of the state of the art by being almost insensitive to weather conditions and ease of installation, while offering a more discreet appearance.
- the solution to the technical problem posed consists, according to the present invention, in that the source as well as the reflector are arranged inside a polyhedral casing, permeable to electromagnetic waves and the lower face of which is intended to be placed horizontally during the use of the receiving antenna, the relative positioning of said source and said reflector with respect to said underside of the housing integrating from the outset a specific site setting, that is to say that said relative positioning takes into account the elevation angle corresponding to the position of the target satellite.
- the invention as defined has the advantage of being excessively easy to set up since the fact of placing the housing level on a horizontal surface makes it possible to dispense with the adjustment in elevation. It then suffices simply to orient said box in the azimuthal direction of the satellite in order to be able to receive the transmitted waves perfectly.
- the polyhedral casing has an entirely arbitrary aesthetic allowing it to blend easily into the urban landscape. This ability can be further accentuated by the fact that it is possible to cover it with paint, of a color identical or similar to its direct environment. It also offers effective protection against UV rays from the sun or humidity, less wind resistance and the possibility of operating perfectly even when covered with snow.
- the frequency converter is also mounted inside the polyhedral housing.
- the source and the converter are directly coupled together to form a single piece, the compactness of which induces greater ease of use.
- the housing 1 illustrated in the figure is heptahedral.
- the two side walls 2 parallel to the cutting plane are identical in shape. Like the rear wall 3, they are positioned orthogonally to the face lower 4, while the front face 5 is inclined outward.
- the upper face 6 is broken down here into two parts, the main one of which 7, through which the majority of the electromagnetic waves is intended to pass, is not parallel to the lower face 4; this in order to prohibit any deposit of object whose presence could disturb reception, and incidentally to allow a satisfactory flow of water or melted snow.
- one of the side walls 2 is provided with a hatch 9 allowing access to the interior of the housing 1; this concealable opening being intended for the maintenance of the various internal components of the reception antenna.
- a reflector 10 is attached to the rear wall 3, under a secondary part 8 of the upper face 6.
- the outline of this portion of dish here resumes substantially the shape and the dimensions of this location of the housing 1, that is to say it is in the form of a rectangular parallelogram.
- the reflector 10 can consist of a metallized concave element of any kind, such as for example a molded plastic covered with copper or chromium; or just be metallic, like an aluminum mirror.
- the source 11 is in turn clipped onto a support 12 positioned opposite the reflector 10. It is directly coupled to the converter 13 for the reasons of convenience already mentioned.
- the casing 1 is mounted perfectly sealed and may possibly contain means for capturing all traces of humidity, such as for example sachets of silica. Likewise, it can be equipped with a heating system making it possible, if necessary, to melt the snow, essentially on its upper face 6.
- the receiving antenna is provided with an internal lighting system 14 which, combined with the translucent nature of the material constituting the main part 7 of the upper face 6, offers a double advantage. On the one hand, it brings an undeniable decorative appeal once in operation, and on the other hand, it can form a source of heat likely to cause the same effects as an internal heating system.
- the translucent face used in this configuration can be made of Plexiglas or Altuglas, materials which are also permeable to electromagnetic waves.
- the other faces of the housing 1 are made of expanded PVC, that is to say of a resistant material, also permeable to waves and which also offers very good resistance in the time, even exposed to different weather conditions. Honeycombed PVC can optionally be used to further increase its resistance, against hailstones for example.
- the receiving antenna according to the invention can be used conventionally, that is to say fixed on a vertical support. But it can also, in a particularly advantageous manner, be placed on the ground 16 or be partially buried. In the first case, care will be taken to have a perfectly horizontal surface. In the second, it will suffice to dig a hole 17 in the ground 16 with a volume substantially equal to the dimensions of the housing 1 and oriented substantially in the azimuthal direction of the target satellite 15, to deposit a bed of sand 18 at the bottom and then to position horizontally said housing 1 using a level, this time precisely controlling said azimuth direction with a compass.
