Definitions
- the present invention relates to a reception antenna intended for receive signals from a geostationary satellite.
- the invention finds a particularly advantageous application in the field of transmission of television signals, whether intended for individual or collective use.
- the reflector is composed of a reflector, a source and a frequency converter.
- the reflector has a paraboloid or portion shape dish. The signals received from the satellite are thus reflected and concentrated in one focal point. This is where the source, accessory intended to guide the waves towards the converter charged with change the frequency.
- the reception antennas used are essentially of the offset type due to their great compactness. Thanks to its decentralization, the source of this family of satellite dishes does not make any shadow on the surface reflecting the signal, which provides better gain and therefore reduces the dimensions of the antenna.
- reception antennas Due to their design, these reception antennas are also directly exposed to natural elements such as the sun, the wind, humidity or snow as many factors detrimental to their good operation.
- the technical problem to be solved by the subject of this invention is to provide a receiving antenna intended to receive signals from a geostationary satellite, including in particular a reflector in the form of a paraboloid capable of reflecting the received signals and concentrate them at a focal point where a source capable of guiding is placed said signals to a frequency converter, receiving antenna which would avoid the problems of the state of the art by being almost insensitive to weather conditions and very easy while offering a more discreet appearance.
- the solution to the technical problem posed consists, according to this invention, in that the source as well as the reflector are arranged at inside a polyhedral housing, permeable to electromagnetic waves and the underside of which is intended to be placed horizontally when the use of the receiving antenna, the relative positioning of said source and said reflector relative to said underside of the housing integrating from the outset a specific site setting, that is to say that said relative positioning takes into account the elevation angle corresponding to the position of the target satellite.
- the invention as defined has the advantage of being excessively easy to install since the fact of leveling the housing on a horizontal surface eliminates the need for adjustment elevation. It then suffices simply to orient said housing in the direction azimuth of the satellite to be able to perfectly capture the waves emitted.
- the housing polyhedral presents an entirely arbitrary aesthetic allowing it to blend easily into the urban landscape. This ability may be still accentuated by the fact that it is possible to cover it with paint, color identical or similar to its direct environment. It also offers effective protection against UV rays from the sun or humidity, plus low wind resistance and the ability to operate perfectly even covered in snow.
- the frequency converter is also mounted inside the polyhedral housing.
- the source and the converter are directly coupled together so as not to form a single piece whose compactness induces greater ease of use.
- the single figure represents a longitudinal section view of a reception antenna according to a particular embodiment of the invention.
- the housing 1 illustrated in the figure is heptahedral.
- the two walls side 2 parallel to the cutting plane are identical in shape. All like the rear wall 3, they are positioned orthogonally to the face lower 4, while the front face 5 is inclined outward.
- the face upper 6 is broken down here into two parts of which the main 7, through which the majority of electromagnetic waves is intended to pass, is not parallel to the lower face 4; this in order to prohibit any deposit of object whose presence could disturb reception, and incidentally allow satisfactory flow of water or melted snow.
- one of the side walls 2 is provided with a hatch 9 providing access to the interior of the housing 1; this opening concealable being intended for the maintenance of the various internal components of the receiving antenna.
- a reflector 10 is attached to the rear wall 3, under a part secondary 8 of the upper face 6.
- the outline of this paraboloid portion resumes here substantially the shape and dimensions of this location of the housing 1, that is to say that it is in the form of a rectangular parallelogram.
- the reflector 10 can be constituted by a metallized concave element of any kind, such as molded plastic covered with copper or chromium; or just be metallic, like a mirror in aluminum.
- the source 11 is in turn clipped onto a support 12 positioned in face of the reflector 10. It is directly coupled to the converter 13 for the convenience reasons already mentioned. Its orientation in the plan vertical, as is the position of the reflector relative to the underside 4, is determined as a function of the elevation of the target satellite 15, that is to say of the angle measured in a vertical plane between the horizon and said satellite 15. This inclination varying according to the latitude of the place of sight, the angle of elevation taken into account is an average of the values recorded in the area covered by the signal broadcast. In order to guarantee optimal reception quality in in the case of extremely extensive coverage, it is however possible to predict for the same region minor variations in this value of site; the space considered being divided into several zones, each of which a specific elevation angle is assigned.
- the housing 1 is mounted perfectly waterproof and may possibly contain means for capture all traces of moisture, such as silica sachets. Of even, it can be equipped with a heating system allowing the case melt the snow, mainly on its upper face 6.
- the receiving antenna is provided an internal lighting system 14 which, combined with the translucent nature of the material constituting the main part 7 of the upper face 6, provides a double benefit. On the one hand, it brings an undeniable once in motion decorative appeal, and on the other hand, it can form a heat source of likely to cause the same effects as an internal heating system.
- the translucent face used in this configuration can be made in Plexiglas or Altuglas, materials which are otherwise permeable to waves electromagnetic.
- the other faces of the housing 1 are made of expanded PVC, that is to say of a material resistant, also permeable to waves and which also offers very good held over time, even exposed to different weather conditions.
- PVC honeycomb can optionally be used to further increase its resistance, towards hailstones for example.
- the receiving antenna according to the invention is conventionally usable, that is to say fixed on a vertical support. But she can also, particularly advantageously, be placed directly the ground 16 or be partially buried. In the first case, care will be taken to have a perfectly horizontal surface. In the second, it will suffice to dig a hole 17 in the ground 16 with a volume substantially equal to dimensions of the housing 1 and oriented substantially in the azimuth direction from the target satellite 15, deposit a bed of sand 18 at the bottom and then position horizontally said housing 1 using a level, this time controlling precisely said azimuth direction with a compass.
