Abstract

Une gaine intermédiaire pour câbles à fibres optiques est fabriquée en une résine copolymère de polypropylène-polyéthylène dans laquelle sont répartis des agents nucléants et des charges qui améliorent la résistance à la compression-tension et les propriétés de dilatation thermique de la gaine intermédiaire selon l'invention (32). L'invention concerne également un câble non armé pourvu de cette gaine intermédiaire et désignée dans les dessins par (30). Le câble comprend une seule gaine intermédiaire (32) de grande dimensions remplie de gel et constituée d'un copolymère de polypropylène-polyéthylène avec au moins un agent nucléant incorporé. Le gel que contient la gaine intermédiaire est un gel thixotrope susceptible d'être bloqué par l'eau. La gaine intermédiaire (32) remplie de gel contient une pluralité de fibres optiques (34). Des fils (36) en aramide, polyéthylène, polyester ou fibres de verre de renforcement de la gaine dans le sens radial, sont enroulés en contre-hélice autour de la gaine intermédiaire (32) et sont imprégnés de composés de remplissage, tel qu'un composé de remplissaage à chaud à base de pétrole. Deux éléments (38) métalliques ou diélectriques de renforcement sont situés à 180° de distance l'un de l'autre sur la face extérieure des fils de renforcement radial (36). Une cordelette de déchirure de haute résistance (40) est fixée sur les fils de renforcement radial (36) pour aider à enlever l'enveloppe du câble. Une chemise extérieure (42) en polyéthylène de densité moyenne (MDPE) qui renferme les organes de renforcement (38) et les fils de renforcement radial (36) finit la structure du câble. Le polyéthylène de densité moyenne dont est constituée la chemise (42) peut être rempli de poudre de noir de carbone.
