Description
The roof window
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to the roof window, especially for attic living rooms, consisting of the window frame and the window leaf, being equipped with hinges on its sides and put turnwise by means of those hinges on the lower side of the bearing arm, fixed tippinwise with its upper side to the upper border of the window frame and enabling its swinging and tipping function without mutual restriction.
Background of the Invention
There are many kinds of roof windows on the market in the last time which differ in addition to the execution quality mainly by the opening procedure. At first it is the matter of swinging roof windows with the central friction hinges enabling the positionning and running back of the window leaf for outside glass washing, with a commanding handle in the upper or lower part of the window leaf. A further, much more pretentious group of roof windows are those ones, where window leafs are the part of the tipping frame or arm enabling by means of fittings with a power element the tipping of the window leaf for an undisturbed view from the window. The washing of the outside glass is than ensured by the swinging function of the window leaf towards the bearing arm by means of friction hinges or the window leaf is tilted downwards in the direction of the inner space by means of suspended bolts in the lower part of the bearing frame. A special group is represented only by tipping windows, where the opening and handling for washing of the outside glass is executed out of the space limited by inner spaces of the window frame on its outside. It is the
question of tipping and in the same time extensible windows, where the reversing of the window leaf for its outside glass washing is solved by window leaf ducting on side rails placed on the outside of the window frame. All above mentionned constructions of swinging-tipping, swinging- hinging, tipping-extensing and tipping windows are in the most cases equipped with two window handles in the upper and lower part of the window leaf for movements ensuring of the window leaf, or, as the case can be, exceptionally with only one such handle, but placed in the lower window part, what makes hard the window handling when there is a flower or working area under the window. In addition, there is not any solution enabling in the full extent the double opening function, that is the swinging and tipping function of the window leaf. Such a solution gives for example the roof window according to the patent FR 2488322, which consists of the window frame and the window leaf being equipped on the ends of its sides with hinges putting the window turnwise on the lower part of the bearing arm, tippingwise fixed by its upper side to the upper border of the window frame. This roof window enables partly the common tipping function of the window leaf by moving the whole bearing arm, partly also the swinging function of the window wing in the bearing arm by means of hinges, but it is nevertheless possible to take use of its swinging function only by tipping the bearing arm.
Nature of the Invention
The above mentionned disadvantages of the being technique state are eliminated in the considerable measure by the roof window consisting of the window frame and the window leaf, which is equipped on its sides with hinges and put turnwise by means of those hinges on the lower side of the bearing arm, tippingwise fixed by its upper side to the
upper border of the window frame, according to this invention, the nature of which consits in that, that the hinges of the window leaf in the bearing arm are placed in the middle of the both sides of the window leaf and that at least one of those hinges is equipped with a blocking safety device against the tipping of the bearing arm from the window frame and the window leaf is equipped with one closing mechanismus against the turning of the window leaf in the bearing arm. The nature of the invention also consists in that, that on the window frame, there is a catch of the blocking safety device and that the catch is equipped with a safety pin and that the blocking safety device is made by a checking groove of the safety pin. The nature of the invention also consists in that, that the catch is equippped with a stabilization screw of the bearing arm of the window leaf.
The construction of the roof window according to the invention enables partly the window leaf turning round its horizontal transversal axis, that is as towards the window frame at the nondeflected position of the bearing arm, what represents its common swinging function, so in any other position of the tipped bearing arm, and the tipping function after taking off the blocking safety device. Both these functions of the roof window according to the invention can be realized substantially in the whole extent of the possible window leaf movement, that is on the one hand independently and on the other hand in their mutual combination. In comparison with hitherto known roof windows, the window with window leaf according to this invention has got much more handling variability and possibility of its opening. A further substantial advantage of the roof window according to the invention is its handling, that is opening and closing, what is realized by only one closing mechanismus, which can be placed in the optimum position on the window leaf, for example on its upper side, what enables
- A -
on the one hand any handling with the roof window only from one place and on the other hand to take use of this roof window in all attic rooms at any arrangement of the room and the space under the window. The stabilization screw in the catch enables in the same time a simple assemblage of the window leaf into the window frame or eventually in its bearing arm, that is in the blocked position of the bearing arm at the window frame. The reason of such an arrangement is the fact, that the bearing arm, how is it usual at the most types of tipping roof windows, is equipped with power springs equalizing existing powers especially from the mass of the window leaf and enabling an easier handling with the roof window during its opening or closing. That is why it is profitable to stabilize the bearing arm at a good position during the assemblage of the window leaf, when those power springs are not under load of the window leaf mass.
Brief Description of the Drawings
A non-limiting arrangement of the present invention will now be described with reference to the attached drawings in which:
- FIG. 1 demonstrates the roof window in the space view with indication of possiblen movement of the window leaf,
- FIG. 2 demonstrates in the front view the window leaf hinge with the blocking safety device at the closed window leaf, - FIG. 3 demonstrates in the front view this hinge with the deblocked blocking safety device at the opened window leaf,
- FIG. 4 demonstrates in the front view this hinge with the blocking safety device in the position, where it comes to its deblocking during window leaf opening or eventually to blocking during closing.
Example of the Execution of the Invention
The roof window according to the figures 1 up to 4 consists of the window leaf 1 with one closing mechanismus 5_ and equipped in the middle of its sides with friction hinges 4. putting the window leaf 1 turnwise round its horizontal transversal axis on the lower side of the bearing arm 2 , which is made in the shape of the turned-up letter U. The bearing arm 2. is fixed with its upper side tippingwise to the upper border of the window frame 3_. The both hinges 4. are equipped with a blocking safety device 6_ against the bearing arm 2. tipping with the window leaf I from the window frame 2 at the closed position of the window leaf 1. Each hinge 4. consists on the one hand of a bearing segment 8_ for fixing the hinge 4. on the bearing arm 2., and on the other hand of a movable segment 7 for fixing the hinge 4. on the window leaf 1. The blocking safety device 6. of each hinge 4. is at the same time made by a checking groove 6.1 of the safety pin 2, placed on the catch 10. which is fixed on the window frame by fixing screws 13. in the middle part of its sides. The checking groove 6.1 is made in the movable segment 1_ of the hinge 4. on its outer side 14.. Each catch 10 is equipped with a stabilization screw H and in the bearing arm 2 of the window leaf 1., in the axis of this srew H, is made his checking hole 12.
The window leaf 1 of the roof window according to the invention can be opened with a closing mechanismus 5_, what makes free his swinging function. The window leaf partially turned of cca 15° extends the checking groove 6.1 from the safety pin 9. of the catch 0. on the window frame 3_, what makes free in the same time the tipping function of the window leaf 1, eventually of its bearing arm 2 , and the movements of the window leaf 1 can be suitably combined for reaching its optimum required position. At the roof window closing, it is necessary firstly to tighten the tipped bearing arm 2. with the window leaf to the window frame 3..
After then, the back turning of the window leaf 1 in hinges 4, is followed with a repeated falling of the catch lfJ safety pin 2. in the checking groove 6.1 in the movable segment 7 of the hinge 4.. This step blocks the tipping function of the roof window and the closing mechanismus 5, also stops its swinging function. At the assemblage of the window leaf in the position given by the coaxiality of stabilization screws 11 in both catches 10. and checking holes 12, the stabilization screws H extend themselves by their screwing out into the checking holes 12.. This step gives the stabilized position of the bearing arm 2. in spite of power springs working in the bearing arm 2. The assemblage of the window leaf 1 finished, the screwing up of those stabilization screws 12. releases the tipping function of the bearing arm 2.-
Field of the Application
The roof window according to the invention can be largely applicated for construction or reconstruction of any buildings and arrangements of their interiors and especially in their attic rooms.
