Wäßrige Lösungen von Esterquats
Gebiet der Erfindung
Die Erfindung betrifft wäßrige Lösungen von Esterquats mit einem Gehalt an Sterolen und/oder Sterolderivaten als Ver- dickungsmitteln, Mittel, die diese Komponenten enthalten so¬ wie die Verwendung von Sterolnen und/oder Sterolderivaten als Verdickungsmittel für wäßrige Lösungen von Esterquats.
Stand der Technik
Esterquats, insbesondere quaternierte Fettsäuretriethanol- aminestersalze, haben in den letzten Jahren als ökotoxikolo¬ gisch unbedenkliche Rohstoffe für Wäscheweichspüler zunehmend an Bedeutung gewonnen. Üblicherweise gelangen die Produkte als alkoholische Konzentrate in den Verkehr und werden von den Herstellern von Avivagemitteln mit Wasser auf eine Anwen¬ derkonzentration, die je nach Anforderung im Bereich von 1 bis 50 Gew.-% Feststoff liegen kann, verdünnt.
Sowohl bei der Herstellung von Esterquat-Konzentraten, als auch bei der Formulierung der wäßrigen Mittel, die diese kat-
ionischen Tenside in unterschiedlichen Mengen enthalten, kön¬ nen Viskositätsprobleme auftreten.
Esterquat-Konzentrate mit einem Feststoffgehalt von etwa 80 bis 90 Gew.-% sind zähflüssig und benötigen als Regulatoren Stoffe, die die Viskosität herabsetzen. In der EP-A2 0 165 138 wird hierzu beispielsweise die Verwendung von organischen Salzen wie etwa Natriumgluconat oder kurzkettigen quartären Ammoniumsalzen vorgeschlagen. Gemäß der Lehre der WO 93/16157 (Henkel) kommen für diesen Zweck auch Esterquats auf Basis gesättigter und ungesättigter Fettsäuren, quaternierte Fett- säureamidoamin-Salze, langkettige QAV und bisquaternierte Fettsäuretriethanolaminester-Salze in Betracht.
Bei wäßrigen Anwendungslösungen der guaternierten Fettsäure¬ estersalze, die einen geringen Feststoffgehalt aufweisen, liegt das Problem jedoch genau umgekehrt: die wäßrigen Lö¬ sungen sind äußerst dünnflüssig und lassen sich nur schwer dosieren. Übliche Verdickungsmittel, wie sie aus der Kosmetik bekannt sind (Elektrolyte, Celluloseether, Fettsäurealkanol- amide etc.), erweisen sich entweder als wenig geeignet und/ oder sind nicht in der Lage, die Produkte dauerhaft auf dem gewünschten Viskositätsniveau zu halten.
Die Aufgabe der Erfindung hat somit darin bestanden, wäßrige Lösungen von Esterquats mit verbessertem Viskositätsverhalten zur Verfügung zu stellen.
Beschreibung der Erf ndung
Gegenstand der Erfindung sind wäßrige Lösungen von Ester¬ quats, die sich dadurch auszeichnen, daß sie als Viskositäts¬ regulatoren 0,1 bis 5,0, vorzugsweise 0,5 bis 3,0 Gew.-% - bezogen auf die Lösungen - Sterole und/oder Sterolderivate enthalten.
Überraschenderweise wurde gefunden, daß sich Sterole und/oder Sterolderivate in besonderer Weise als Verdickungsmittel für wäßrige Lösungen von Esterquats eignen. Bei Zusatz dieser Stoffe kann die Viskosität der wäßrigen Lösungen problemlos auf einen Wert angehoben werden, der ein müheloses Dosieren bzw. Anwenden ermöglicht. Die Erfindung schließt dabei die Erkenntnis ein,- daß die Produkte lagerstabil sind, d.h. das einmal eingestellte Viskositätsniveau bleibt auch bei länge¬ rer Lagerung praktisch unverändert erhalten.
Esterquats
Unter der Bezeichnung Esterquats werden im allgemeinen qua- ternierte Fettsäuretriethanolaminestersalze verstanden. Es handelt sich dabei um bekannte Stoffe, die man nach den ein¬ schlägigen Methoden der präparativen organischen Chemie er¬ halten kann. In diesem Zusammenhang sei auf die Internatio¬ nale Patentanmeldung WO 91/01 295 (Henkel) verwiesen, nach der man Triethanolamin in Gegenwart von unterphosphoriger Säure mit Fettsäuren partiell verestert, Luft durchleitet und anschließend mit Dimethylsulfat oder Ethylenoxid quaterniert. Stellvertretend für den umfangreichen Stand der Technik sei
an dieser Stelle auf die Druckschriften US 3,915,867, US 4,370,272, EP 0 239 910 A2, EP 0 293 955 A2, EP 0 295 739 A2 und EP 0 309 052 A2 verwiesen.

Typische Beispiele für Esterquats, die im Sinne der Erfindung Verwendung finden können, sind Produkte auf Basis von Capron- säure, Caprylsäure, Caprinsäure, Laurinsäure, Myristinsäure, Palmitinsäure, Isostearinsäure, Stearinsäure, ölsäure, Elai- dinsäure, Arachinsäure, Behensäure und Erucasäure sowie deren technische Mischungen, wie sie beispielweise bei der Druck¬ spaltung natürlicher Fette und Öle anfallen. Vorzugsweise werden technische Ci2/18~κ°k*osfettsäuren unc** insbesondere teilgehärtete Ci6/ιs~Tal9~ bzw. Palmfettsäuren sowie elaidin- säurereiche Ci5/i8-Fettsäureschnitte eingesetzt.
Zur Herstellung der quatemierten Ester können die Fettsäuren und das Triethanolamin im molaren Verhältnis von 1,1 : 1 bis 3 : 1 eingesetzt werden. Im Hinblick auf die anwendungstech¬ nischen Eigenschaften der Esterquats hat sich ein Einsatz¬ verhältnis von 1,2 : 1 bis 2,2 : 1, vorzugsweise 1,5 : 1 bis 1,9 : 1 als besonders vorteilhaft erwiesen. Die bevorzugten Esterquats stellen technische Mischungen von Mono-, Di- und Triestern mit einem durchschnittlichen Veresterungsgrad von 1,5 bis 1,9 dar und leiten sich von technischer Ci6 i8-T l /- bzw. Palmfettsäure (Iodzahl 0 bis 40) ab.
Aus anwendungstechnischer Sicht haben sich quaternierte Fett- säuretriethanolaminestersalze der Formel (I) als besonders vorteilhaft erwiesen, in der R-'-CO für einen Acylrest mit 16 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen, R2 für R-J-CO, R3 für Wasserstoff, R4 für eine Methylgruppe, m, n und p für 0 und X für Methylsul¬ fat steht.
Neben den quatemierten Fettsäuretriethanola inestersalzen kommen als Esterquats ferner auch quaternierte Estersalze von Fettsäuren mit Diethanolalkylaminen der Formel (II) in Be¬ tracht,

Als weitere Gruppe geeigneter Esterquats sind schließlich die quatemierten Estersalze von Fettsäuren mit 1,2-Dihydroxypro- pyldialkylaminen der Formel (III) zu nennen,

Hinsichtlich der Auswahl der bevorzugten Fettsäuren und des optimalen Veresterungsgrades gelten die für (I) genannten Beispiele auch für die Esterquats der Formeln (II) und (III). Üblicherweise gelangen die Esterquats in Form 50 bis 90 Gew.- %iger alkoholischer Lösungen in den Handel, die bei Bedarf problemlos mit Wasser verdünnt werden können. Die im Sinne der Erfindung beanspruchten wäßrigen Lösungen, die es zu verdicken gilt, besitzen hingegen üblicherweise einen Fest¬ stoffgehalt im Bereich von 1 bis 50, vorzugsweise 3 bis 15 Gew.-%.
Sterole und/oder Sterolderivate
Als Viskositätsregulatoren kommen Sterole und/oder Sterolde¬ rivate in Betracht. Unter dem Begriff Sterole (synonym mit Sterine) sind vom Cholesterin abgeleitete Steroide zu verste¬ hen, die nur in der C-3 Position eine Hydroxygruppe, sonst jedoch keine weiteren funktioneilen Gruppen tragen. Zusätz¬ lich besitzen die 27 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatome enthaltenden Sterine im allgemeinen mindestens eine Doppelbindung in 5/6-, 7/8 und/oder 8/9-Stellung. Typische Beispiele sind Zoosterole wie etwa Cholesterin, Lanosterin, Spongosterin, Stellasterin oder Phytosterole wie etwa Ergosterin, Stigmasterin und Sitosterin. Eine Übersicht zu diesem Thema findet sich bei¬ spielsweise in Fette, Seifen, Anstrichmit ., 82_r 103 (1985).
Unter Sterolderivaten sind Ester, die Alkylenoxid-Addu te, die Epoxidierungsprodukte z.B. vom Generol(R)-Typ (Henkel KGaA, Düsseldorf/FRG) oder Sulfate der Sterole, insbesondere der Phytosterole beispielsweise auf Basis von Sojaöldestilla¬ ten oder -dämpferkondensaten zu verstehen.
In einer besonderen Ausführungsform der Erfindung werden als Viskositätsregulatoren Sojasterole in Mengen von 0,5 bis 5,0 Gew.-% - bezogen auf die Lösungen - eingesetzt.
Zur Herstellung der Lösungen hat es sich als besonders vor¬ teilhaft erwiesen, zunächst etwa die Hälfte des Wasser vor¬ zulegen und auf etwa 30 bis 50°C zu erhitzen, dann die qua¬ te ierten Fettsäuretriethanolaminester-Salze und die Vis¬ kositätsregulatoren zuzugeben und anschließend die restliche Menge Wasser, die Umgebungstemperatur aufweisen kann, einzu-
rühren. Hierbei handelt es sich um einen rein mechanischen Vorgang, eine chemische Reaktion findet nicht statt.
Gewerbliche Anwendbarke
Die erfindungsgemäßen wäßrigen Lösungen zeichnen sich durch eine vorteilhafte und auch bei längerer Lagerung praktisch unveränderte Viskosität aus.
Ein weiterer Gegenstand der Erfindung betrifft wäßrige Wä- scheweichspülmittel, enthaltend 1 bis 50 Gew.-% quaternier¬ te Fettsäuretriethanolaminester-Salze, 0,1 bis 5,0 Gew.-% Sterole und/oder Sterolderivate sowie gegebenenfalls weitere Hilfs- und Zusatzstoffe.
Ein weiterer Gegenstand der Erfindung betrifft wäßrige Haar¬ behandlungsmittel, enthaltend 1 bis 50 Gew.-% quaternierte Fettsäuretriethanolaminester-Salze, 0,1 bis 5,0 Gew.-% Ste¬ role und/oder Sterolderivate sowie gegebenenfalls weitere Hilfs- und Zusatzstoffe.
Ein letzter Gegenstand der Erfindung betrifft schließlich die Verwendung von Sterolen und/oder Sterolderivaten als Visko¬ sitätsregulatoren für wäßrige Lösungen von quatemierten Fettsäuretriethanolaminester-Salzen, in denen sie in Mengen von 0,1 bis 5,0 Gew.-% - bezogen auf die Lösungen - enthalten sein können.
Die folgenden Beispiele sollen den Gegenstand der Erfindung näher erläutern, ohne ihn darauf einzuschränken.
Beispiele
I. Eingesetzte Stoffe
AI) Dehyquart(R) F 30. Mischung aus methylquaterniertem Palmfettsäuretriethanolaminester-Methylsulfat-Salz (30 Gew.-%) und Cetearylalkohol (70 Gew.-%).
A2) Dehyquart(R) F 75. Mischung aus methylquaterniertem Palmfettsäuretriethanolaminester-Methylsulfat-Salz (75 Gew.-%) und Cetearylalkohol (25 Gew.-%).
Bl) Generol(R) 122. Sojasterol.
Cl) Lanette(R) O. Cetearylalkohol.
C2) Cutina(R) MD. Technisches Stearinsäuremono/diglycerin- Ge isch.
C3) Eumulgin(R) B2. Cetearylalkohol-20 EO-Addukt.
Alle eingesetzten Stoffe sind Verkaufsprodukte der Henkel KGaA, Düsseldorf/FRG.
II. Viskositä smessungen
Die Viskosität der erfindungsgemäßen Rezepturen Rl bis R3 so¬ wie der Vergleichsrezeptur R4 wurde nach Brookfield (25°C, Spindel 5, 10 Upm) bestimmt. Die Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle 1 zusammengefaßt; die Prozentangaben verstehen sich als Gew.-%.

Patentansprüche
1. Wäßrige Lösungen von Esterquats, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie als Viskositätsregulatoren 0,1 bis 2,0 Gew.-% - bezogen auf die Lösungen - Sterole und/oder Sterolderi¬ vate enthalten.
2. Wäßrige Lösungen nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeich¬ net, daß sie Esterquats der Formel (I) enthalten,

5. Wäßrige Lösungen nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie einen Feststoffgehalt im Bereich von 1 bis 50 Gew.-% aufweisen.
6. Wäßrige Lösungen nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie als Viskositätsregulatoren Soja¬ sterole enthalten.
7. Wäßrige Wäscheweichspülmittel, enthaltend 1 bis 50 Gew.-% Esterquats, 0,1 bis 2,0 Gew.-% Sterole und/oder Sterolderivate sowie gegebenenfalls weitere Hilfs- und Zusatzstoffe.
8. Wäßrige Haarbehandlungsmittel, enthaltend 1 bis 50 Gew.-% Esterquats, 0,1 bis 2,0 Gew.-% Sterole und/oder Sterolderivate sowie gegebenenfalls weitere Hilfs- und Zusatzstoffe.
9. Verwendung von Sterolen und/oder Sterolderivaten als Viskositätsregulatoren für wäßrige Lösungen von Ester¬ quats.
