Description

DESCRIPTION
Of the invention with the title of :
"Special security profiles for rolling shutters and their movement."
For new systems of armed rolling shutters the following patents have been issued in the name of the inventor Giovanetti Quinto: Italian Patent n°.1187106 dated 16/12/87 absorbed by European Patent n°.0248837 dated 01/12/86; Italian Patent n°.1234471 dated 18/05/92.
The following have also been deposited: the application for Italian Patent n°. RA- 92A00011 dated 10/07/92 and that of International Patent n°.PCT/IT93/00065 dated 22/06/93. The present invention, though autonomous, completes the series of the preceeding ones by the same author creating new profiles for the composition of the rolling shutters that, while using the technical innovations already patented, with the present separating of the slats one from another, realizes a grating for continuous use for defending the place allowing for an abundant passage of light and air. Therefore the invention eliminates the present system of the joining together of the various slats of the rolling shutters with a hooked extension of their body, and carries out such joining together by means of the insertion between them of a separate profile (10) that has the function of joining them and allowing for a spacing between the slats corresponding to its height (fig. 5-6), as well as easy folding for the rolling allowing for an angle of about 90 degrees. - Considering that the pieces of the internal armouring are highly resistant steel and that the single slats result to be strongly fixed by means of the special guides (fig.9) to the side walls, intrusion through this rolling shutter is very difficult requiring the breaking in by means of heavy equipment as well as long and noisy work. - These shutters can replace the gratings installed outside the windows also offering the advantage of a total and immediate closure or opening in case of necessity.
- The movement takes place by means of special mechanical devices that are operated electrically or manually. - The application is easy in all buildings as their design is in harmony with their aesthetics. MECHANICAL DEVICE AND WORKING PROCESS
- The slats of the rolling shutter can be produced in extruded metal (1) or in folded sheet (5) in various sizes and thicknesses in relation to the required protection. They have a groove in the upper part (3) for holding the hook (11) of the profile
(10) that joins them one to another. Those in extruded metal have a greater thickness in the base with hole (4) in which a steel rod (15) is inserted to hold the hook (11) that penetrates into the body of the slat (1) through a hole (9) obtained by milling in the base of the same in exact correspondance with the teeth of the joining profile (10).
The number of hooking teeth (11) of the profile (10) is in ratio to the weigth of the slats to be raised.
- Both types of slats (1-5) in the upper part have an area delimited by flaps (2) to receive a square, tempered, stainless steel tube (12) that serves for the armouring and for the insertion of the other pieces (13-17).
- To strengthen the resistance of the slats, another square or a round tempered stainless steel rod (13) is inserted into the tube (12) of a length that is shorter than the tube (12) to leave space for the lateral joint (17) in the cavity (18) of which the connecting pin (16) for linking the slat to the guide (fig.9) will be screwed. The joints (17) are blocked in the tube (12) by punching the tube itself over their notches (19). The tube prepared in this way is then fitted into the slat (fig.5-6).
- A stainless steel support (14) with a hole (4) to receive a steel rod (15) is introduced into the plate slats. The support (14) also has other holes that correspond exactly to those carried out in the base of the slat (9) for the passage of the hooks (11).
- Into the holes (9) of the slats (1-5) layed out on a table are then fitted the teeth
(11) of the connecting profiles (10) that remain blocked there by the introduction of a rod (15) into a hole 4.
- At this point the side plugs (7) are fitted and the pins (16) are screwed in that permanentely fix all the components of the slats creating a blind that can be rolled that is fitted into the lateral guides (fig.9) and connected to a device for movement fitted above the window.
- The rolling and the unrolling of the slatted blind, for the opening and the closing of the window opening, takes place by means of the traction or the releasing of the two steel cables (24) connected at the top to the pulleys (23) and the bottom to the pin (16) of the first slat in contact with the sill. In this way the rolling up of the blind around the rotating tube (21), that turns connected to two lateral pulleys (23) always takes place with the slats closed together, avoiding the cumbersome volume that would be caused by rolling the blind with the slats separeted. The lowering of the blind alsotakes place with slats closed together and carries out the total closure ofthe window. - Desiring the separation ofthe slats for the passage of air and light, a mechanism is put into action that first of all detaches the connecting pins (31) of the rotating tube (21) to the pulleys (23), making the movement autonomous, then making the tube (21) only rotate that by means of the connections (37) pulls and rolls up the first upper slat of the blind and one by one the following ones separating them one from another until the limit of the extension permitted by the length of the hook (10) that joins them together. When the spacing reaches the last slat at he bottom in contact with the sil the turning tube automatically stops.
- From the position with the slats separated, the shutter can only return to that of total closure with the inversion of the running of the rotating roller (21) that unwinding the slats (1-5) places them by force of inertion one on top ofthe other causing the penetration into their body ofthe connecting hooks (fig.5-6 n°.10).
- For the partial or total opening of the window a control inserts the pins (31) placed in the two covers (22) ofthe rotating tube (21) in the gears ofthe pulleys (23), coupling tube and pulleys in a single movement. The cables (24) are in this way wound round the pulleys (23) pulling up the slatted blind as far as the position desired.
- So that each slat (1-5) of the rolling shutter always remains blocked in the position in which it is found by a special bolt consisting of a shaft with comb like teeth (39) situated in the lateral guides (20), a patented system with the declared application dated 10/07/1992 n°. RA-92000011, any shifting of their position can only take place after the free ing ofthe movement ofthe connecting pins (16) that connect to the guides (20). Therefore, each command of variation of position of the slats is preceeded, in an automatic way, by the setting into action of the armature(32) of the magnets (27) that acts on the lever (33) that turning the toothed shaft ofthe bolts (39) frees or blocks the running ofthe pins (16).
All the movements of the rolling shutter are synchronized by means eletromechanical or manual systems already on the market and easy to use. LIST OF REFERENCE NUMBERS
