Abstract

The invention relates to a furniture assembly system in which the most important components are knot binding rods (1) and plates (2), especially plates made of derived timber material. The knot binding rods (1) are used to secure the plates (2) together. They preferably take the form of a solid square-section aluminium rod. Near both its faces, each knot binding rod (1) has two threaded through-holes. Each hole runs perpendicularly to two opposite parallel long sides of the binding rod and passes through its longitudinal axis (6). The two frontal apertures can take a special screw (3). The plates (2) are fitted with ordinary commercial attachments (4) into which the downwardly directed screws (3) of the binding rod (1) can be secured by being pushed from the side and subsequently locking the attachment (4).

Description

MOBELBAUSYSTEM MIT KNOTENSTABEN MOBILE CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM WITH NODE BAR
Furniture should be adaptable to the changing needs of the people who use it and the changing space requirements.
For example, it may happen that someone wishes to re-place his television, which previously stood on a separate television table, in his wall unit. With a conventional, unchangeable wall unit, this was only possible if the wall unit already had a suitable, sufficiently large compartment. If this was not the case, you were forced to either forget your idea or then buy a new wall unit.
For example, it is also conceivable that, after moving, a wall unit in the previous form will not fit in the new room. For example, it may be too high or too wide, or it may have an unsuitable shape. With conventional, unchangeable wall units, you had no choice but to buy a new wall unit. The conventional, unchangeable furniture therefore did not meet people's need for change. The company was therefore looking for ways to make furniture changeable.
According to the current state of the art, furniture construction systems are known which permit a certain change in furniture. However, these furniture construction systems are complicated and expensive.
Furniture construction systems are known which consist of a support system and an installation system. The support system is made up of a large number of rods and knots, which are put together to form a load-bearing frame. The filler elements of the installation system such as trays, side walls, rear walls, doors, etc. are then attached to this frame. The filling elements are relatively easy to replace with this system. However, the support system can only be changed with great effort. The use of a support system and an installation system independent of it is also unnecessarily complicated and leads to high production costs.
In addition, furniture construction systems are known which work with finished modules. The modules are cuboid or cuboid. They are formed from plates which are screwed together in a suitable manner. A large number of modules are placed side by side or one above the other to form a piece of furniture. The modules are often fixed together with clamps or screws.
These furniture construction systems do not permit free design, since the size and shape of the individual modules cannot be changed. In addition, the modules can only be put together in a specific, predetermined manner and cannot be freely combined. If you want to change an existing piece of furniture, you have to completely or at least partially dismantle it and then reassemble it. Finally, furniture construction systems are known which use connecting rods as connecting elements for the sheet-like components. The components are fixed to the connecting rods on their end faces. Such connecting rods have been described in the patents CH 467 421 (published on February 28, 1969), DE 34 05 571 (published on August 22, 1985) and DE 28 48 523 (published on May 31, 1979).
In the connecting rods, which were described in the patents DE 28 45 523 and DE 34 05 571, the connecting devices for fastening the components to the connecting rods are in the form of bolts which project at right angles from the connecting rods. The bolts are inserted into receiving bores in the end faces of the components and screwed down with screws running transversely to the bolts (DE 34 05 571) or with a suitable adhesive (DE 28 45 523) fixed in the mounting holes. In the connecting rod, which is described in the patent specification CH 467 421, the connecting devices have the form of dowels which have a head part and a shaft part. The head parts of the dowels can be inserted into an opening of the connecting rod and then fastened in this. The shaft parts protruding from the connecting rod are positively fixed in the receiving bores of the components. The dowels must be secured to the connecting rod in a cumbersome manner. Securing needles are, for example, securing needles which are pushed transversely through the head parts of the dowels, or locking forks which enclose the necks of the head parts. In all of these known furniture construction systems which use connecting rods, the fastening technique for fixing the components to the connecting rods is unsuitable. None of the known fastening techniques allows individual components to be removed or supplemented at any point in a fully assembled piece of furniture. If you want to change a piece of furniture at a later stage, it has to be at least partially dismantled. If, in the fastening technology, the connecting devices are even glued to the components (DE 28 45 523), then it is not even possible to subsequently dismantle the furniture.
The object of the invention is now to create a furniture construction system which is of simple construction, the components of which can be plugged together and combined as desired, and the load-bearing components of which can be subsequently replaced without problems.
The object is achieved according to the invention with the aid of the training features according to the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
The present invention relates to a furniture construction system. ste, the most important components of which are knot bars and plates, in particular wood-based panels.
This furniture construction system is characterized above all by the fastening technology which is used for fastening the individual components to the node bars. This fastening technique not only enables the components to be fixed quickly and easily to the tie rods, but also enables components to be removed and attached to existing furniture without problems.
The node bars serve to connect the plates to one another. They are preferably formed by an aluminum solid profile bar with a square cross section. Each node rod has two continuous threaded holes near its two end faces. Each hole runs at right angles to two opposite, parallel knot rod longitudinal sides and penetrates the knot rod longitudinal axis. The two front openings of each threaded hole can each accommodate a special screw.
Es zeigen:The plates are provided with commercially available connectors, into which the protruding screws of the tie rods can be inserted from the side and do not have to be inserted from the end face, as is the case, for example, with receiving bores on the end face. The invention is explained, inter alia, in the drawings. Show it:

Fig. 1). The length of the solid aluminum profile bar from which the node bar 1 is formed corresponds to the width of the plates 2 to be connected. The node bar 1 has a square cross section (cf. FIG. 1). Its width corresponds to the thickness of the panels 2 to be connected. However, its width can also be somewhat larger than the panel thickness. The longitudinal edges 16 of the node bar 1 are preferably slightly rounded.
Fig. 3) . Die Gewindebohrungen 5 verlaufen ausserdem rechtwinklig zu den Seitenflächen 7 des Knotenstabes 1 und durchdringen die Knotenstablängsachse 6.A maximum of eight screws 3 can be screwed into the node bar 1, on which the plates 2 can be fixed with special connectors 4. For this, the node rod 1 is provided with eight through-holes 5. These threaded holes 5 are arranged in pairs near the two rod ends. The two threaded bores 5, which form a pair of bores, are at right angles to one another (cf. FIG. 3). The threaded holes 5 also run at right angles to the side surfaces 7 of the knot bar 1 and penetrate the knot bar longitudinal axis 6.
Fig. 1).The distance between the threaded bores 5 and the node rod end faces 17 corresponds to approximately one sixth of the length of the node rod 1 (cf. FIG. 1).
Fig. 4). Fig. 1 und 2).The two end openings of a threaded bore 5 are each able to receive a screw 3. Special screws 3 are used which are suitable for the connectors 4 used (cf. FIG. 4). The screws 3 are available on the market. They have a cylindrical shaped collar 19 on. The screws 3 are screwed into the threaded bores 5 until the lower side of this collar 19 abuts the surface of the node rod 1. It is thereby achieved that those parts of the screws 3 which protrude from the surface of the node rod are always of the same length. This is an important prerequisite for the screw heads being able to be fixed to the plates 2 without problems by the connectors 4. Two such screws 3 can be screwed in for each side surface 7 of the node rod 1. They are at right angles in the screwed-in state on the side surfaces 7 of the tie rod 1 (see FIGS. 1 and 2).
Fig. 3). The plates 2 are either square or rectangular. Two connectors 4 are attached to each of their two lateral end faces 8. Known connectors 4 which are available on the market and which can clamp screws 3 are used. The connectors 4 are gripper claw locks known from furniture construction. In the case of these gripper claw locks, the locking or connection is produced by turning a gripper claw 21 which runs eccentrically inwards (cf. FIG. 3). The distance between the collar 19 and the head 20 of a screw 3 is greater than the engaging end 22 of the gripper claw 21 of a connector 4.
The connectors 4 are cylindrical and have a recess which extends from the outside of the connector 4 to the center thereof and which is open towards a connector end face. In order to fix a screw 3, it is inserted into the recess from the end face of the connector 4. The screw 3 must be held parallel to the connector face and its head 20 must face the center of the connector 4. When the screw 3 is inserted into the recess, the gripper claw 21 of the connector 4 is turned with a screwdriver from an open position into a closed position. The engaging end 22 of the gripper claw 21 is among the - 7 -
Screw head 20 pushed, whereby this is fixed in the connector 4.
In order to be able to fasten the connectors 4 to the plates 2, these are provided with four bores 9. Two of these bores 9 are arranged directly next to each lateral end face 8 of the plates 2. The holes 9 are perpendicular to the plate surface.
Fig. 3 und 4). Der Abstand zwischen diesen schlitzförmigen Öffnungen 10 und den Ecken 18 der Platten 2 entspricht dem Abstand zwischen den Gewindebohrungen 5 von den Knotenstabstirnflächen 17.They are not continuous. Their depth and their diameter correspond to the height and the diameter of the connectors 4, respectively. The distance between the longitudinal axes of the bores 9 and the lateral end faces 8 is somewhat smaller than the bore diameter, so that the end faces 8 penetrate through the bores 9 will. As a result, a slot-shaped opening 10 is formed on the end faces 8 of each bore 9 (cf. FIGS. 3 and 4). The distance between these slot-shaped openings 10 and the corners 18 of the plates 2 corresponds to the distance between the threaded bores 5 from the node rod end faces 17.
In order to fasten a plate 2 to a knot bar 1, the plate 2 is positioned next to the knot bar 1 in such a way that the lower edge of one of the lateral end faces 8 of the plate 2 rests on one of the knot bar longitudinal edges 16 and the front and rear end faces 12, 13 are flush with the node rod end faces 17. The two screws 3 of the node rod side surface 7 are located in this position immediately in front of the slot-shaped openings 10 of the lateral end surfaces 8 of the plate 2. The plate 2 is now moved in the direction of the node rod 1 in such a way that the screws 3 slide into the slot-shaped openings 10.
Um die Schrauben 3 in den Verbindern 4 zu fixieren, braucht man nun nur noch mit /27053In the end position, the lateral end face 8 of the plate 2 completely coincides with the corresponding knot bar side face 1, and the two screws 3 are completely inserted into the slot-shaped openings 10 and thus also into the associated connectors 4. To fix the screws 3 in the connectors 4, all you need now is with / 27053

einem Kreuzschraubenzieher die Greiferkrallen 21 der Ver¬ binder 4 zu schliessen.to close the gripper claws 21 of the connector 4 with a Phillips screwdriver.
In an analogous manner, a plate 2 can be fixed to two parallel node bars 1 at the same time. A maximum of four plates 2 can be attached to each node bar 1.
However, it is also possible to attach only three or two plates 2 to a node rod 1. In the case of two plates 2, it is possible to arrange them in one plane or at right angles to one another.
Mit Hilfe des Knotenstabes 1 lassen sich also alle Knoten¬ punkte bilden, welche bei einem Möbel normalerweise vorkom¬ men. With the help of the knot bar 1, all knot points can be formed which normally occur in furniture.
/27053It should be emphasized that the protruding screws 3 of the knot bars 1 can be pushed into the connector 4 from the side and do not have to be inserted from the end face, as is the case, for example, with receiving bores on the end face the case is. This means that the plates 2 can be pushed from the side between two already assembled node bars 1 and fixed to them. An already fixed plate 2 can be detached from the corresponding node bars 1 at any time and pulled away laterally from the node bars 1. The plates 2 are provided with pre-drilled holes 11, 14 for fastening internals such as trays, rear walls, partition walls, door hinges, drawers, etc. The holes 11 for fastening trays and drawers are, for example, each on a line which runs parallel to the front and rear end faces 12, 13 of the plates 2 and are at the same distance from these as the slot-shaped openings 10 of the side end faces 8. Die Holes 11 are arranged at regular intervals. Four further pairs of holes 14, which are arranged next to one another in the vicinity of the lateral end faces 8 of the plates 2, are used to fasten door hinges and angle pieces 15 for fixing the rear wall. / 27053

Thanks to these predrilled holes 11, 14, assembly is additionally simplified since all drilling work is relieved from the customer.
For the construction of a piece of furniture, the individual panels 2 are connected with node bars 1. As already described, the assembly is very simple. The customer only needs to push the plates 2 onto the node bars 1 from the side and then close the connectors 4. Even if a piece of furniture is already assembled, individual panels 2 can be exchanged without problems by opening the connectors 4 and pulling the panels 2 away to the side.
Das vorgeschlagene Möbelbausystem mit Knotenstäben 1 weist gegenüber den bisher bekannten Möbelbausystemen wesentliche Vorteile auf:The proposed furniture construction system with node bars 1 has significant advantages over the previously known furniture construction systems:
In the proposed furniture construction system, individual load-bearing parts can be easily installed and removed, even if the furniture is already fully assembled. This was not possible with any of the previously known furniture construction systems, not even with those that used connecting rods. Compared to the previously known connecting rods, the node rod of the proposed furniture construction system also has the advantage that it can be attached to the plate-shaped components in a few simple steps and can also be easily removed again.
The parts of the proposed furniture construction system can be assembled as desired and the built-in elements can be freely attached to the row bores provided. In the previously known furniture construction systems with a separate support and installation system, the mounting options for the installation elements were predefined by the support structure and were therefore restricted accordingly.
Changes to the supporting structure were complicated and time-consuming. The furniture systems, which worked with finished modules, were even more restricted, since the modules can only be assembled in a limited number of arrangements. If you wanted to change an existing arrangement, you had to completely or at least partially dismantle the existing furniture.
The proposed furniture construction system, however, leaves the imagination free scope and sets practically no limits to the possible uses.
With the proposed furniture construction system, living walls, desks, bookshelves, bathroom cabinets and many other pieces of furniture can be built.
When moving or changing premises, the furniture can simply be dismantled without the help of experts and without special tools and then reassembled, adapted to the new space requirements. The customer only needs a screwdriver.
In summary, it can be said that the proposed furniture construction system is distinguished by its diversity, its flexibility and its simplicity in assembly and in the event of subsequent changes. Thanks to these advantages, there will be great interest.
