Abstract

L'invention concerne une direction assistée, notamment pour véhicules automobiles, qui comprend une broche à billes (2) montée rotative dans une boîte de direction (1) et coulissant dans le sens axial entre des limites étroites. La broche à billes (2) coopère avec un écrou à billes (14) relié au servopiston (15) d'un servomoteur (18). Une soupape de braquage (22) pouvant être régulée en fonction d'un mouvement rotatif de la broche à billes (2), assure la commande permettant au fluide hydraulique d'être acheminé jusqu'aux deux espaces de travail (16, 17) du servomoteur (18) et d'en être ramené. La soupape de braquage (22) comporte pour chaque sens de braquage, une soupape d'admission à siège (23, 24) et une soupape d'échappement à siège (25, 26). Les soupapes d'admission à siège (23, 24) sont fermées lorsque la soupape de braquage est en position neutre. La régulation de la soupape de braquage (22) s'opère par l'intermédiaire d'un levier de commande (20) maintenu rotatif sur la broche à billes (2), mais non coulissant dans le sens axial par rapport à ladite broche à billes et qui est soumis à la force exercée par des ressorts de centrage (30, 31, 34) qui le maintiennent en position axiale neutre. La broche à billes (2) est libérée par des forces hydrauliques supplémentaires, dirigées dans le sens axial, du fait qu'une de ses extrémités (5) est introduite de manière étanche dans la boîte de direction (1) et forme un espace (10) entre la surface frontale (8) de la broche à billes (2) et la boîte de direction (1), lequel se trouve exposé à la pression atmosphérique.
