Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil par écho d'impulsion ultrasonore permettant d'effectuer des mesures de précision de la compressibilité d'une matière de rétrodiffusion, en particulier un tissu organique. Ledit procédé consiste à utiliser un transducteur classique (10) ou un dispositif contenant un transducteur à conversion transaxiale (12) pour comprimer ou déplacer une région proximale d'un corps cible par faibles incréments connus. A chaque déplacement, une impulsion (18) est émise et une séquence d'écho (ligne A) est détectée depuis des régions de la cible situées le long du chemin sonique ou du faisceau (20) du transducteur. Les décalages temporels des segments d'écho ainsi obtenus correspondant aux caractéristiques dans la cible (25), après correction des régions à vitesse sonique variable le long du chemin sonique, donnent des informations relatives et quantitatives sur la contrainte produite par les compressions. On détermine également les sollicitations imparties par le transducteur et le dispositif contenant un transducteur, après correction de la profondeur le long du chemin sonique. On divise ensuite les valeurs de contrainte appropriées par les valeurs respectives de sollicitation le long de chaque chemin afin de produire un élastogramme, ou un réseau de valeurs de compressibilité de la cible (25).
