  • BEST MODE AND OTHER EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION As shown 1n Figure 1, a folding scaffold 10 includes a number of platforms 11 which are pivotally attached to tubular columns 12. The locking joint 13 between the platform 11 and the column 12 is shown more clearly in Figure 2.

  • the tubula column 12 pivots about the platform 11.
  • a bolt 15 is inserted through an apertur 16 in the brace 14 and also through an aperture 17 in the tubular column 12.
  • a nut threaded onto the bolt 15 would have a tendency to crush or deform the tube 12.
  • This problem is solved with th provision of a cylindrical insert 18. While the insert can assume any of number of different shapes, a cylindrical insert is preferred. It is important that the insert be rigidly attached to the tube 12 so that stresses exerted on the insert 18 are transmitted to the tube 12 and vice versa.
  • the insert 18 may be threaded, for direct coupling with the bolt 1 or unthreaded, in which case a nut is also provided.

  • a shade cloth may be superimposed over the mesh.
  • Known methods of attaching shade cloth to mesh are time consuming and tend to damage the shade cloth.

  • the clip is "U” shaped i cross-section.
  • the side walls of the clip are concave so as to seat between adjacent columns of a scaffolding.

  • a particular advantage of the invention is that the shade cloth or fabric can be affixed without tying and without damaging the material. Abstract

Un joint de blocage (13) est situé entre une plate-forme d'échafaudage (11) et une colonne tubulaire (12). Un tirant (14) est fixé rigidement à la plate-forme (11). Une colonne tubulaire (12) pivote autour de la plate-forme (11). Pour bloquer la plate-forme (11) par rapport à la colonne tubulaire (12), un boulon (15) est inséré dans une ouverture (16) située dans le tirant (14) et également dans une ouverture (17) située dans la colonne tubulaire (12). Un élément cylindrique à insertion (18) est fixé rigidement au tube (12) pour que les efforts s'exerçant sur l'élément (18) soient transmis au tube (12) et vice-versa. L'invention décrit également un élément de fixation élastique (20) servant à maintenir une toile (21) sur l'échafaudage. Cet élément de fixation en forme de 'U' possède des parois concaves (23) se logeant entre les colonnes d'échafaudage contigües (12) et coinçant la toile (21) entre l'élément de fixation (20) et l'échafaudage (12).
