- the present invention relates to fluxless soldering of Al- members, where at least one of the joined (soldered) members is provided with a zinc alloy solder layer being metallurgically bonded to the Al-substrate, and more particularly to a fluxless soldering process applying vibration on selected assembled members.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a soldering method with no hazardous fumes emission, no need for post-cleaning operations and utilizing a conventional normal atmosphere furnace.

- the applied vibration breaks up the oxide on the surface of the molten zinc alloy allowing for free flow of the solder to form the joints.
- the achieved certain mechanical expansion of the tubes ensures a good and reliable contact during the soldering operation, and furthermore this also results in the expulsion of zinc oxide and eventual excess (surplus) of the zinc solder from the joint.
- the resulting soldered joints exhibit high strength and show a perfect "fillet", as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3.
- the sample was heated up to 420°C in order to melt the zinc alloy solder material.
- the sample was then air cooled to solidify the solder material followed by a water quench.

Abstract
Un procédé de brasage sans fondant d'éléments en aluminium comprend l'expansion et la vibration mécaniques simultanées de certains des éléments en aluminium assemblés et dotés d'une couche de soudure avant le brasage. Les vibrations sont transmises par conduction grâce à l'introduction de mandrins vibrants dans les éléments creux (tubes) assemblés.
