Definitions

  • This invention relates to a combined scraping and sweeping machine.
  • Scrabers and rotating brushes both self-driven and for mounting on a tractor and cars for cleaning of roads, sidewalks, squares etc. for snow, sand, grain etc. are generally known only with a single function. That means that either a scraper or a brush can be mounted and accordingly there could either be scraped or swept. This causes great inconvenience at dismounting and mounting of equipment when change should be made from scraping to sweeping or vice versa.
  • the combined scraping and sweeping machine according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a sweeping belt which is driven transversely of the travelling direction and which is mounted with brush elements.
  • the belt is mounted just behind the scraper, and due to the transverse movement the material is freely swept aside.
  • the sweeping belt is at top covered by a shield and in each end e ⁇ uiped with an adjustable spout.
  • the machine can be moved at an angle of approximately 25o to each side, and the speed of the belt can be varied and the direction of rotation of the belt can be changed.
  • the machine is self-bearing and can be moved freely in vertical direction in relation to the mounting by means of spherical bearings.
  • a scraping and sweeping machine which conducts both scraping and sweeping at a time and thereby saves an operation in relation to the machines known hitherto.
  • the machine sweeps and delivers the material under full control and can conduct a predetermined finish and scrape and sweep to both sides in the same travelling direction.
  • the machine is only minimally weared and not overloaded when driving on rough ground.
  • a simple embodiment of the scraping and sweeping machine according to the invention is equipped with a steel blade scraper and a transverse rubber belt mounted with platic brushes.
  • the scraper can for example be equiped with a wearing edge of a different material, likewise the brush material can be of a different type and even be interchanged with shovels or flaps.
  • the belt prime mover can be a hydraulic rotor.
  • FIG. 1 is a side cross section
  • Fig. 2 is a cross section seen from above,
  • Fig. 3 is a front cross section
  • Fig. 4 is a side cross section of a different embodiment of the machine.
  • Fig. 5 shows the embodiment of the machine according to Fig. 4 seen directly from above.
  • a combined scraping and sweeping machine comprises mainly a frame 14, on which a rubber belt 6 is mounted with combined brush and steel units 12 which can be moved transversely to the travelling direction. Furthermore ahead of the scraping and sweeping machine a scraper blade 8 is mounted with a wearing edge, and which can be raised hydraulically 200 mm up and down independently of the sweeping unit.
  • the shown embodiment has a pendulum system which is made in such a way that, at the bottom of the pendulum shaft, a spherical bearing 15 is mounted and at the top has an oval cutting which is adapted to the pendulum height.
  • the machine itself has be means of a hydraulic cylinder a swinging possibility of approximately 25o.
  • the machine itself has a mounting which suits a standard A- frame system 3, but can moreover be adapted to all other mounting systems.
  • rubber belt 6 and belt rollers 7 are used for mounting of the brush unit 12, but there is not obstacles for using chain wheels and chains, on which the brush sections are mounted. Besides there is nothing to prevent use of belts of synthetize materials such as PVC- materials instead of rubber belts. Furthermore there is no hindrance to use scraper sections made of polyesther materials, steel, rubber flaps, rubber shovels, steel blades, steel shovels or a combination thereof.
  • the embodiment of the machine shown on Fig. 4 and 5 in the drawing comprises a scraper blade 202 with a rubber edge 201 mounted to the lower edge of the blade by means of bolts.
  • the scraper blade 202 is strenghtened by stiffening ribs 203 and mounted to the rest of the machine by a scraper frame 204, as it is fastened to a vertical raising and lowering cylinder (hydraulic cylinder) 205.
  • This cylinder is with the cylinder housing placed moveable in a sliding bearing 206, which on its turn is fastened to a pendulum frame 207.
  • the cylinder is with the end of the cylinder rod fixed to the lower horizontal part of the frame 207. When the cylinder is activated then the cylinder housing moves upwards and thereby raising the scraper blade.
  • the pendulum frame 207 can swing round a horizontal axis placed in the longitudinal direction of the machine.
  • the scraper blade can thereby follow the roughness of the ground independent of the movements of the machine.
  • stops 209 is placed which limit the movement of pendulum frame.
  • the complete section with scraper blade can by means of a couple of bolts in the pendulum frame 207 be dismounted from the rest of the machine and be mounted directly on the mounting frame 222 for the vehicle.
  • the scraper blade has moreover two swing cylinders 228, by means of which the blade can be placed at an oblique angle in relation to the travelling direction of the machine.
  • the brush section comprises a sweeping frame 216 with a bearing profile 230.
  • the brush section has a mounting frame 210.
  • a driving shaft is placed in the longitudinal direction of the machine at each end supported by a bearing 211 and 216 and in the middle in connection with the bearing profile 230.
  • the driving shaft is driven by a hydraulic motor.
  • the driving shaft is bearing two V-belt gears which by a V-belt 214 drives an axle 215 mounted with V-belt gears for belts 225 equiped with brushes 204.
  • the sweeping unit can swing round the driving shaft so that the unit compensates for roughness of the ground independent of the movement of the scraper unit.
  • the machine For mounting on a vehicle the machine has a so-called A- frame 2 17 with a top rod mounting 2 18 which is connected to the vehicle. Below the A-frame is equiped with a raising and lowering mounting 219 which in its turn is mounted on a vehicle frame 222 which is mounted under the vehicle. For adjusting the height of the machine above the ground there is a raising and lowering cylinder 221 and a height adjuster 223. By activating the cylinder 221 the frame 220 is raised and swings round its right end for raising the machine.
  • the reference numerals 26 and 27 indicates a hole for an eye bolt and a reinforcement respectively.
  • scraper blade unit and the sweeping unit can swing independently round their longitudinal axis, likewise they independent of each other can be raised from the ground.
  • This embodiment can carry out a combined scrabing sweeping function, a sweeping function alone with the scraper blade in a raised position and a scrabing function alone with the sweeping unit in a raised postion, likewise one can turn the direction of the belt hydraulically so that a sweeping function could be carried out either to the right or to the left of the travelling direction.
  • the construction of the machine is very rigid and compact and is therefore applicable for snow cleaning and other forms of cleaning sand, grain, animal foods, coal etc.
