  • This invention relates to a device for suspension of a tool to the front portion of a vehicle and comprising a three-point connection having two connecting rods, one at each side of the longitudinal centre line of the vehicle, and a top rod, the one ends of which are intended to be fastened to the front portion of the vehicle and the other ends of which are intended to be fastened to the tool.
  • the present invention intends to remove the problems with the known technique which has been made possible by a device of the kind mentioned by way of introduction which device according to the main claim is characterized by the fact that the two connecting rods are movably suspended in the frame of the vehicle and arranged in that way that they converge forwards in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and that the top rod is divided into at least two parts which are connected by means of a hinge, the part being fastened to the frame of the vehicle is hinged to this one in that way that it can make a movement in the vertical plane, while the second part which is fastened to the tool is so hinged to the first part that it is pivotable relative to the first part in the horizontal plane.
  • the device becomes movable laterally which means that the lateral forces that are transmitted from the tool to the tractor are reduced.
  • the movable device functions as a shock-absorber between the tractor and the tool, whereby the strains in the tool, the device and the tractor are reduced. Due to the fact that the device admits the tool to be moved laterally, it becomes in addition to that easier to steer the tractor.
  • the first one contributes to the self-centering ability of direction-dependent tools, while the second feature contributes to the self-centering ability of direction-independent tools.
  • the reason why a top rod being designed in that way that has been mentioned in the characterizing part of the main claim contributes to make a direction-indpendent tool self- centering is the following.
  • That part of the top rod which is pivotable in the horizontal plane, is essentially shorter than the connecting rod. That means that if the tool is laterally displaced such that the angle between the connecting rod and the longitudinal centre line of the tractor is changed, the angle between the top rod part and the centre line of the tractor will be changed to a higher extent by the fact that the top rod part is essentially shorter than the connecting rod. Due to that fact there is formed an increased tractive force in the top rod having the consequence that the direction-independent tool strives to move in towards the longitudinal centre line of the tractor.

  • the tool can move laterally in relation to the tractor, whereby the tool can be laterally displaced when hitting for instance a stone.
  • the distance between the fastening points of the back ends 8,9 is greater than the distance between the fastening points of the front ends 10, 11. Due to that fact the connecting rods converge forwards in the longitudinal direction of the tractor. This feature is of great importance since it contributes to the self-centering of direction-dependent tools having come out of course.
  • a converging angle, that is the angle between the connecting rod and the longitudinal centre line of the tractor is preferably greater than 3° but less than 15°.
  • Each connecting rod 5, 6 is kept in right position by means of a lift link 13, 14, the one end of which is fastened to the connecting rod and the other end of which is fastened to a lifting arm 15, 16, projecting from the upper part of the frame and is so applied to that one that it can move in the vertical plane.
  • the movement in the vertical plane of the lifting arms 15, 16 is made by means of hydraulic cylinders 17, 18.
  • the three-point connection as has been mentioned previously, comprises a top rod 7, which is made in two parts 19, 20 connected with each other by means of a hinge 21.
  • one part 19 comprises a hollow square rod and is fastened to the middle portion of the frame 2 by means of a hinge 22 with the aid of which the part 19 can be pivoted in the vertical plane.
  • the hinge 22 comprises a circular-cylindrical means 23 which is fastened to the end portion of the part 19 and which cooperates with bearings 24 applied in the frame 2.
  • the hinge 22 does not allow movement in the horizontal plane.
  • the second part 20 is fastened to the tool by means of a further hinge 25 allowing the part 20 to move in both the horizontal and the vertical plane in relation to the tool.
  • the hinge 25 comprises a U-formed means 26 which is fastened to the one end of the part 20.
  • This means 26 cooperates with another U-formed means 27 and is provided with two legs 28, 29 which are connected by a relatively thick shaft 30, which is rotatable in relation to the legs 28,29.

  • the hinge 21 comprises a U-formed means 33, the two legs 34, 35 of which surround the square rod 19 at two diametrically opposite sides.
  • a bolt 36 goes through the legs 34, 35 and the square rod 19, whereby the part 20 becomes pivotable in the horizontal plane in relation to the part 19.
  • the part 20 is telescopically designed, whereby its length can be changed by simple manipulation.
  • the height of the top frame is the distance between the fastening point of the top rod in the tool and the fastening points of the connecting rods in the supporting shaft of the tool. If this height of the top frame can be kept small the ability of the tool to self-centre itself is improved. According to the invention the height of the top frame is less than the distance between the supporting shaft of the tool and the ground surface.
