Abstract
An edging machine which comprises a frame (1) supporting a counterpart (2) and a hydraulically operated pressing tool (3) by means of which a sheet is pressed against the counterpart (2). For the manufacture of a profiled sheet without any time-consuming turning of the sheet, the machine according to the invention comprises both a lower counterpart (2) and a upper counterpart (4) and likewise an upper pressing tool (4) and a lower pressing tool (5). The counterparts (2, 4) and the pressing tools (3, 5) are arranged in the same vertical plane, whereby the counterparts (2, 4) are provided with a mechanism (16, 17, 25) for the displacement thereof in the horizontal plane. In order to provide different kinds of edging angles without any changing of the counterpart, the counterpart can comprise several grooves for different kinds of edging angles, which grooves are displaceable in alignment with the pressing tool (3, 5) by means of the displacing mechanism (16, 17, 25) of the counterpart.
Description
An edging machine
This invention relates to an edging machine for pressing of an upward as well as a downward edge in a sheet without any turning of the sheet, said machine comprising a frame and a lower counterpart and a lower pressing tool supported thereon below the edging point and an upper counterpart and an upper pressing tool arranged above said point, said pressing tools being stationarily fitted in the same vertical plane in which also the counterparts are arranged to be operative during the edging so that when the desired counterpart/pressing tool pair is being used, the other pair has been displaced away from the edging point, whereby the pressing tool has been displaced to the back position thereof in said vertical plane.
In known solutions, changing of the pressing tool and the counterpart -is often effected by means of expensive and complicated solutions. The object of the present invention is to provide an edging machine wherein changing of the press and the counterpart can be easily carried out by driving means of the machine itself and a simple lever mechanism.
This is achieved by means of an edging machine according to the invention, which is characterized in that each pressing tool is arranged to operate by means of a hydraulic cylinder of its own, by means of which it is drawable also into said back position thereof when the other pressing tool is being used, each counterpart being displaceable in the transversal direction thereof in its stationary horizontal plane into a working position in alignment with the pressing tool or away therefrom by means of its own mechanisms attached to the machine and the counterparts. A more detailed structure of one specific
embodiment of the invention will be described in the following with reference to the attached drawing, wherein
Figure 1 is a front view of an edging machine according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a section of the edging machine of Figure 1 along the line II-II of Figure 1,
Figure 3 illustrates the edging machine of Figures 1 and 2 when a sheet is provided with a downward edge, and
Figure 4 illustrates the edging machine of Figures 1 and 2 when a sheet is provided with an upward edge.
The edging machine shown in Figures 1 and 2 comprises a frame 1 having a beam structure and including several vertical frame beams 6, to which horizontal beams 7 are attached by welding, said beams 7 being supported by diagonal struts 8 welded between the • horizontal and vertical beams. Beams 9 extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine are welded between the horizontal beams 7, which beams 9 connect the described horizontal and vertical beam structures to form the frame structure of the machine. Diagonal struts 10 and 11 are fitted between the diagonal struts 8 and the horizontal beams 7 so as to support counter¬ parts 2 and 4 on one hand and pressing tools 3 and 5 on the other hand. Longitudinal beams 12 are secured on the diagonal struts 10 and 11 , whereby there are two such longitudinal beams arranged apart from each other in such a manner that the opposite surfaces thereof are provided with quide pieces 13 welded thereon for the pressing tool arranged to be displaced therebetween. Furthermore, the counterpart 2 . 4 is slidably secured on the longitudinal beams 12 by means of bolts 14 and a base plate 15, a bell crank 17 being attached to said
counterpart by means of an articulation 16 for horizon¬ tal displacement of the counterpart. One longitudinal beam 12 is provided with a stop 18 for the counterpart for limiting the horizontal movement thereof. Upright struts 19 are provided between the pairs of the longitudinal beams 9 and 12, a guide plate 20 being provided on the opposite surfaces of said upright struts for the pressing tool 3, 5. Said pressing tool 3 , 5 is formed by a longitudinal beam 22 suspended between said guide plates by means of hydraulic cylinders 21 shown by broken lines and a press jaw 23 welded thereon and a proper press 24 attached to the side thereof. Said pressing tool 3 , 5 is pushed by the hydraulic cylinders 21 to be slidable from a gap formed between the beams 12 towards the counterpart 2, 4 positioned opposite thereto.
This operation, however, requires that the counterpart 2, 4 is horizontally displaceable to make way for the pressing tool 3, 5, as shown in Figures 3 and 4. Therefore the bell crank 17 attached to the counterpart 2 is so articulated on the upright strut 19 that the counterpart is essentially horizontally diplaceable to make way for the pressing tool 3, 5 when the bell crank 17 is turned e.g. by means of a hydraulic cylinder 25 shown by broken lines in Figure 2 in the direction of the arrows 26 of Figures 3 and 4.
Only one preferred embodiment of the invention is described above and it is to be understood that it can be structurally modified in various ways without, however, deviating from the scope of protection of the attached claims.
