Abstract

Le dispositif est monté de préférence sur la partie arrière d'un véhicule, par exemple sur l'essieu arrière (20), pour stabiliser le véhicule dans les tournants et en dérapage, donnant ainsi une meilleure tenue de route audit véhicule. Le stabilisateur fonctionne selon le principe hydraulique et comprend un logement (32) qui peut être partiellement rempli d'un liquide tel que de l'huile hydraulique, bien que ledit stabilisateur puisse aussi fonctionner s'il est seulement rempli d'air. Une masse (34) d'un poids important est placée dans le logement (32) et, en réaction à la force centrifuge, telle que celle produite dans un tournant, particulièrement un tournant brusque, cette masse se déplace axialement par rapport au logement. Ce dispositif comprend aussi un piston (40) à chaque extrémité du logement et d'autres éléments (49) associés à ce piston pour ramener celui-ci dans une position normale de repos; ledit piston possède des éléments (48) permettant au fluide de s'écouler entre ses côtés opposés pour amplifier l'action du stabilisateur.
