Abstract
An installation for the removal of oil slicks on expanses of water is used to burn away the oil film. For this, a number of porous shaped bodies (2, 3, 4) made from a fireproof, inorganic and ceramic fibre material are connected together. Each shaped body (2, 3, 4) is made to float by hydrophobic treatment.
Description
The invention relates to a device for removing oil films on water.
Ufer gelangenWhen tankers or oil rigs leak, oil films form on the sea or rivers, canals or lakes. This leads to considerable environmental damage. This is especially true when they reach the coast or shore
Special vessels are used to remove oil films, which are intended to extract the oil film. The efficiency of such an oil extraction is low.
Plastic barriers are common to limit the spread of oil films. These have been shown to be unsuitable when the sea is swell or the water moves heavily. They also do nothing to remove the oil film.
Attempts have also been made to remove oil films by flaring. The disadvantage here is that oil films that are difficult to ignite easily go out again.
The object of the invention is to propose a device of the type mentioned at the beginning with which the oil film can be burned off. According to the invention, the above object is achieved in a device of the type mentioned at the outset in that a plurality of porous molded articles made from a refractory, inorganic, ceramic fiber material are connected to one another and in that each molded article is floatable through hydrophobization.
The moldings are laid out on or around the oil film or, as a precautionary measure, to protect a system from a coastal or bank section. The moldings float due to the hydrophobization. Due to their porosity, they exert a strong capillary suction effect on oil. Moldings soaked in oil can easily ignite. The absorbed oil then burns without the molded body itself being burned or damaged. It constantly sucks up oil from the oil film. The shaped bodies thus act like a wick for the oil film.
In order to avoid that the connection of the shaped bodies is released when the oil burns off, the shaped bodies are connected in an embodiment of the invention with an incombustible cord or a heat-resistant wire.
In a further development of the invention, the shaped bodies are made hydrophobic by impregnation with a silicone oil or a silicone resin. The molded bodies thus float easily.
The shaped bodies can be formed from needled mats (blankets) made of ceramic fibers. Sheets of fiber material are also suitable as shaped bodies.
In another embodiment of the invention, the shaped bodies are formed from pipe pieces which are threaded onto a cord or a wire for connection. Such a chain of shaped articles is particularly suitable for the precautionary protection of coastal or riparian zones against oil pollution. The moldings are ignited when a driving oil film is found.

Fig. 4 Rohrstücke nach Fig. 3, miteinander verbunden, gegenüber Fig. 3 verkleinert.Fig. 4 pieces of pipe according to Fig. 3, interconnected, compared to Fig. 3 reduced.
The starting material for the shaped bodies shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, namely the mat 1, the plates 2, 3 and 4 and the pipe section 5 is a refractory, inorganic fiber material which, for example, consists of 47% Aλ ~ <D ~ and 53% S \ Q- exists. The moldings are porous. They are hydrophobized with a silicone oil or a silicone resin, so that they are buoyant.
The mat 1 is produced by needling the fiber material. Their length is between 1 m and 20 m. Their width is 0.2 m to 1.0. Their thickness is between 1 cm and 10 cm. Several of the mats 1 are connected to a larger area by means of a non-combustible cord made of ceramic fibers. Such a cord is shown in FIGS. 2 and 4. The mat 1 is flexible so that it adapts to waves of the water surface when swimming.
Ihre Dicke liegt zwischen 1 cm und 10 cm.The plates 2, 3 and 4 are made of the fiber material, for example by pressing. They are essentially rigid. Their length is between 0.2 m and 2.0 m. Their width is 0.2 m to 1.0 m. Their thickness is between 1 cm and 10 cm.
Fig. 4). In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the plates 2, 3 and 4 of different lengths are connected with cords 6. The cords 6 are made of refractory, inorganic fiber material. Due to the cord connection, the structure consisting of several plates 2, 3 and 4 is also flexible, so that it adapts to a wave movement of the water surface. The pipe section 5 has a length between 0.1 m and 1.0 m. Its inner diameter is 0.1 m to 1.0 m, its outer diameter being between 0.12 m and 1.30 m. A large number of such tube pieces 5 are threaded onto a flexible cord 7 made of a heat-resistant, ceramic fiber material (cf. FIG. 4). At the ends of the cord 7, an eyelet 8 is formed for anchoring. The cord 7 with the pipe pieces 5 can be laid around a system to be protected.
If an oil film comes into contact with the shaped bodies 1 to 5, they absorb oil due to the capillary action of their pores. This is then finely distributed in the moldings 1 to 5, the oil-soaked moldings 1 to 5 can be easily ignited. The oil burns off without the shaped bodies 1 to 5 or the cord 6, 7 also burning off. When the oil burns off, the moldings 1 to 5 continuously suck in oil from the oil film, so that the oil burns off continuously.
After the removal of the oil film, the moldings 1 to 5 can be reused.
