Abstract

Water flushing mechanism for W.C. of the ball valve type, characterized in that the balls (29 and 30) have a density higher than one, that the valve (13) comes into action at the end of the opening travel of the plug according to two embodiments, namely: a) one wherein the displacement of the rod (7) of a distributer (6) is performed in the extension of the manual opening of the plug ; b) another one wherein the lifting of the plug (22) is controlled by the action of a hydraulic jack (23), that in order to suppress the perception of noise by the double enclosing thereof, the mechanism is housed inside an envelope (39) which is itself arranged within the normal tank (40) of the W.C., that said envelope (39) stores flushing water which is emptied directly in the bowl through a truncated conduit (43), that rods associated to screws acting as struts provide for the rapid fixing of the mechanism in the envelope (39) and of the latter in the tank (40).

Description

PERFECTIONNEMENTS AUX MECANISMES DE CHASSE DE W.C. DU TYPE A CLAPET A BILLES. IMPROVEMENTS IN BALL VALVE TYPE HUNTING MECHANISMS.
Almost all of W.C.'s flush tanks are fitted with float valves, the main drawbacks of which are that they are extremely noisy and require a very long filling time. In the patent published under the number -2485061, the filling of the reservoir is ensured by a ball valve which is both fast and silent but which presents a risk of pollution of the water distribution network. 0 The present invention relates to a mechanism which eliminates this risk by providing improvements to the ball valve and arrangements aimed at eliminating the perception of noise. Finally, it relates to rapid means for mounting the whole of the mechanism in the tank. In the aforementioned patent, the intervention of a known type of ball valve begins at the end of the complete emptying of the reser¬ see and after the plug has closed. In the present invention, a new type ball valve comes into action to ensure filling when the drain plug reaches the end of the opening stroke. This plug is integral with a vertical rod whose movement from bottom to top is effected either under the action of the user or under the action of a hydraulic cylinder.
It is given for a better understanding of the invention and by way of nonlimiting examples, two embodiments referring to the attached drawings: FIG. 1: Longitudinal view of the device with manual control; Figure 2: Longitudinal view of the hydraulically operated device; Figure 3: Cross-section of the anti-noise device; Figure ' : Longitudinal view of the anti-noise device and the fixing means. Figure 1 includes a plug (2) which alternately closes or releases the expulsion orifice (1). The plug (2) is integral with a vertical rod (3) which ends, at its upper part, by a button (4) by which, from the outside, the user actuates the opening of the plug. A piece (5) integral with (3) is in a vertical position and directed upwards. It is intended to cause the lifting of the rod (7) from a distributor (6) with two pistons respectively that of the top (8) and that of the bottom (9). This distributor (6), of known type, is supplied with water through the orifice (10). It comprises an upper circuit which, via the orifice (11) and the conduit (12), feeds the ball valve (13), a lower circuit which, through the orifice (16) and the conduit (17) supplies a housing (18) inside which is a ball (19) of density greater than one, placed opposite an outlet orifice (20) forming a sealing seat and a cir¬ cuit which, by l orifice (14) and the conduit (15) communicates the cover of the distributor (6) with the ball valve. The operation of the device is as follows, the rod (3) being, at the start, lowered, the bung (2) closing the orifice (1) and the rod (7) being in the position shown in solid lines:
By lifting the button (4), the user initially provokes the emptying of the reservoir, then the part (5) coming into contact with the underside of the piston (9) moves the rod (7) towards the top to bring to the position of the dotted lines which corresponds to the opening of the circuit of the ball valve so that the "tank is filled. On the other hand, the bung (2) falls back on its sealing seat at the same time that the tank empties as it does in all current tanks When after filling, the valve balls are blocked, the pressure is exerted on] the upper face of the piston (8) to repel the rod (7) down.
As soon as, by the displacement of the piston (8), the orifice (11) ceases to be supplied, the orifice (16), by the displacement of the piston (9) begins to be supplied. The water which arrives at (10) forces its passage towards (16) and exerts a push on the upper face of the piston (9) which completes the closing movement of the dispenser (6). The housing (18) fills with water and the flow through the orifice (20) causes a flow which sucks the ball (19) on the sealing seat of (20) which interrupts the flow. In order to obtain that this flow is sufficient in volume and lasts long enough for the displacement of the rod (7) to be completed, the housing (Î8) contains any system for braking the water such as, for example , a series of baffles (21).
After blocking of the ball (19) on the seat (20), the assembly returns to the initial position, ready to operate again. The second case corresponds to FIG. 2 in which the rod (24) of the hydraulic cylinder (23) carries, at its lower part, a rigid washer (25) which, in its low position, is applied to a suction cup fixed on the top of the drain (22) so as to join it. The suction cup (26) carries at its periphery any element such as, for example, a flange (27) which, during the lifting of the rod (24) comes into contact with a fixed stop (28) which deforms the rubber from (26). ' The suction effect is then eliminated, the suction cup (26) detaches effortlessly from the washer (25) which continues its stroke, the tank empties at the same time as the bung (22) falls back onto its sealing seat. At the end of the refilling of the tank, with the blocking of the balls of the valve, the rod (24) goes down again and the washer (25) comes back on the suction cup (26) so as to find itself in a situation of lifting at again the drain (22) during the following operation. Figures 1 and 2 show the new devices of the ball valve whose balls, the upper (29) and the lower (30) are both of density greater than one. They are housed and superimposed in the interior compartment (31) of the ball valve (13).
To the lower ball (30) corresponds an orifice (32) forming a sealing seat placed in a substantially horizontal plane. This orifice (32) extends towards the. bottom by a pipe element (33) which opens itself in a cavity (34) whose cover is perforated for the escape of air and in which slides a float (35) which carries, in its part upper, a pin (36) placed opposite the pipe (33). When the level rises, the float (35) rises with it, the stud (36) crosses the pipe (33) and, by lifting the ball (30), causes the blocking of the valve as soon as the Archimedes push that undergoes the float (35) becomes greater than the combined weight of the two balls (29) (30).
The bottom of the compartment (31) can be lined with a rubber membrane (37) which does not hinder the movement which has just been described but which isolates the distribution network from the tank in order to eliminate any risk of pollution.
Pour permettre l'adaptation de l'enveloppe (39) dans le réservoir (40) quelque soit le diamètre de l'orifice inférieur (44) de ce réservoir (40), on peut utiliser un conduit (43) de forme tronçonnique dont l'ext¬ érieur vient se poser sur le rebord de l'orifice (44) et dont l'intérieur sert de siège d'étanchéité à la bonde (45) qui, dans ce cas, pourra avan- tageusement être choisie de forme sphérique.FIGS. 3 and 4 show, in transverse and longitudinal views, the anti-noise device which consists in double locking up this already very reduced noise thanks to the ball valve: The mechanism (38) is housed in an envelope (39) in which the flushing water is stored to empty through its lower part by means of an expulsion orifice (42) extending downwards by a conduit (43) which opens directly into the pipe (41) of the bowl. To allow the adaptation of the envelope (39) in the tank (40) whatever the diameter of the lower orifice (44) of this tank (40), one can use a pipe (43) of sectional shape whose l 'ext¬ er comes to rest on the edge of the orifice (44) and the interior of which serves as a sealing seat for the drain (45) which, in this case, can advantageously be chosen to be spherical.
It is also possible, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, to fill the outside of the duct (43) with ribs such as (46), (47), (47a) which rest on the edge of the orifice ( 44) and provide recesses therebetween which bring the pipe (41) into communication with the space between the outside of the envelope (39) and the inside of the tank (40)
If the overflow of the envelope (39) consisting of a single hole (48) comes into action, the water from this overflow can thus be evacuated towards the bowl.
The total impasto between the ends (52) and (53) of the rods (49) and (50) is greater than the interior width of the casing (39) which comprises, on each of its laté¬ sides rales, in correspondence with the rods (49) and (50) and of the same polygonal shape, a hollow boss or two bosses respectively (54) and (55) on the bottom of which the ends (52) and (53) are fitted , which has the effect of securing fixedly the mechanism (38) with the envelope (39) and removably because the assembly as the demon¬ tage is effected by elastic spacing of the side walls of the envelope ¬ pe (39).
The rods (49) and (50) are hollowed out with blind and tapped cylindrical holes, respectively (56) and (57) while the bottoms of the bosses (54) and (55) have holes (58) and (59) through which are introduced into (56) and (57) screws (60) and (61) of which, when they are unscrewed, the heads (62 ) and (63) come, by their external faces, to be applied on the internal lateral walls of the tank (40), and act like struts by securing fixedly but removably the casing (39) with the tank (40) .
