Cistern for water closets. The present invention relates to a flushing tank for water closets comprising a member capable of oscillating between two positions of stable equilibrium and having a shape such that, the reservoir being empty, if this member is moved away from the position that it then oc cupe, so as to bring it into its second stable position, it determines the opening of a water supply orifice in 'the.
tank and remains in this second position until the moment when, the tank being full, the latter empties through a drain pipe that it includes, which produces a movement of water in the tank and thereby creates a dynamic thrust exerted on a part of the oscillating member which urges the latter to return to its initial position by determining the closure of the water supply orifice.
The accompanying drawing shows schematically, by way of example, a faith-me of execution of the object of the invention of the type of cisterns filling at the moment. where it will be used and the content of which then flows.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal vertical section of the tank, before filling; Fig. 2 the same view as FIG. 1, but after filling, during draining, Fig. 3 a plan, FIG. 4 a cross section with the siphon removed, FIG. 5 a detail view, in section, on a large scale of the supply valve, FIG. G a perspective view of the mobile element.
A plate a, b, c, folded in the shape of a dihedral of which b is the edge, constitutes the pivoting member. The rotation of this organ takes place around b. The upper part of the face c of the dihedron thus formed comprises a part bent perpendicular to the plane of this face and constituting an arm d to which a chain e provided with a handle n is attached. the maneuver.
The central part of the bottom of the tank has a part m in the form of a bowl, into which the end of the drain pipe of the tank emerges. Opposite the end of this pipe is applied the end of one of the branches of a siphon consisting of two concentric cylindrical tubes arranged vertically, which allows communication between the liquid and the drain pipe. .
The ends of the inner tube of this siphon are open, the upper end of the outer tube is closed, the lower end of the latter is open and opens into the. part m of the tank, at a level appreciably lower, or at, that of the bottom of this tank.
An orifice 1 is made in the lower part of the wall of the inner tube. It makes it possible to completely empty the water which is in the part wi, and which could harm the operation of the siphon. It remained in this part m and froze there for example.
A valve g is attached to. the. tank wall. It has a chamber in communication with a pressurized water pipe. In this chamber is the head of the valve, which is. kept in his seat by the. water pressure. A rod f, integral with the head of the valve, is in contact with the face c of the pivoting organ. Its arrangement is such that the. rotation of this organ causes the displacement of 1-L rod f and opens the valve g (fig. 5).
The operation of the embodiment described is as follows: The organs being originally clans the position shown in FIG. 1, the handle is pulled -n so as to bring these members into the position corresponding to. fig. 2, which has the effect of opening the valve g and causing the tank to be filled (fig. 5).
When the water level reaches the upper part of the siphon 11, it can flow through the inner tube of this siphon, thus the priming of the latter is obtained. the lower part of the outer tube, which causes a dynamic pressure of the moving water on the face a of the swivel plate.
This dynamic pressure has a component 7. normal to. the. part n of the plate, which forces the latter to. come back to. its initial position (fig. 1).
The weight, the. shape and arrangement of the members are such that the pivoting plate is in stable equilibrium in its two extreme positions shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, of marnière that, when acting on the, its handle to bring the organs into the. position of the. fig. ? and let it go. handle, the components remain in this position until the siphon is primed, which has the effect of producing the dynamic pressure on the face a of the plate, pressure which breaks the balance of the latter and forces it to come back to its initial position.
At the same time as the plate resumes its first position, the. head of the. valve automatically returns in contact with its seat, no longer being stressed. move away from it due to the water pressure, which closes the water inlet in the tank which then empties completely through the siphon k, and the orifice 1.
