Abstract

The device comprises a flexible band (1) consisting of two layers, which are formed through a reverse bend of the band. The band is connected with an energy-absorbing means consisting of loops (2) fabricated of a flexible long-stapled material and fixed on the band (1) between the layers thereof. The loops (2) of the layers are connected subsequently to each other with interwinding of knitted fabric and oriented from the ends of the band (1) towards the reverse bend thereof. One of the ends of the band (1) can be connected to a fixed support (3) whilst to its other end a load (F) can be applied in order to destroy the interwinding in the direction opposite to that in which defibering might occur. The invention can be utilized in most prospect as shock-absorbers for safety belts used by builders, fitters, mountain-climbers, as well as for safety belts used in vehicles.
