- the hook leg is provided with screw threads for cooperation with a nut 15 with which the posi- ' . tion of the block 11 on the hook leg 10 may be adjusted.
- a locking lever 16, which is secured to the block 11 forms, together with the block a substantially U-formed gap in which the nut 15 operates, so that adjustment of the block in both directions may be performed by means of the nut.
- the hook member 8 is pivotably supported in the U-shaped link 13 which again is pivotably supported by the hatch coaming pivot 4.

- a tension spring 21 is fixed between a peg 19 on the hatch coaming and a projection 20 on the block 11 which at all times prestresses the hook member 8 for roation towards the cover peg 3 (i,e, clockwise when seen in Figs. 1 to 3) .
- the mode of operation of the battening apparatus is to be described with the position occupied by the components at open hatch (fig. 1) as a starting point. Then the hook member 8 is in position with the top of the nose 9 substant- ially in line with the top face of the hatch coaming 1.
- the hydraulic jack 6,7 is actuated so that the piston with the piston rod 7 is drawn into the cylinder 6, so that the link 13 is rotated clockwise about its pivot 4, whereby the hook member 8, under the influence of the spring 21, rotates clockwise to the position shown in Fig. 2, in which the hook member nose 9 is in a position substantially directly above, but at a distance from the peg 3 on the cover 2, and touches the side f ce of the peg 3.

Abstract
Appareil de voligeage utilise en combinaison avec les panneaux de descente a bord de bateaux ou autres, comprenant un organe de crochet (8) qui est adapte a une extremite pour engager une pointe (3) sur le panneau et, a une distance de cette extremite, est monte, par l'intermediaire d'un organe de liaison (13), en rotation autour d'un pivot (4) situe sur l'hiloire (1) du panneau et est connecte a une source de puissance (6, 7) par l'intermediaire de cet organe de liaison, le pivot (4) sur l'hiloire etant situe sensiblement directement sous la pointe (3), et l'organe de liaison (13) etant adapte pour passer, pendant le voligeage de l'appareil, avec son point de connexion (12) entre l'organe de crochet et l'organe de liaison par une extension d'une ligne passant par les axes de la pointe du panneau et du pivot de voligeage, de sorte que la partie superieure (9) de l'organe de crochet passe d'abord a une distance au-dessus de la pointe de panneau (3) puis est deplacee sensiblement de maniere rectiligne a angle droit par rapport a l'hiloire par rapport a la pointe (3). Un ressort (21) est monte entre l'organe de crochet (8) et l'hiloire (1), lequel ressort exerce a tout moment un couple sur l'organe de crochet dirige vers la pointe (3). La jambe (10) du crochet possede une section non circulaire dans le but d'empecher la rotation dans le bloc (11) supportant le point de connexion (12). La position du bloc (11) sur la jambe du crochet est reglable a l'aide d'un ecrou (15) sur la jambe (10) entre le bloc (11) et un aboutement ou autre (16) fixe sur le bloc.
