La presente invención trata de un proceso para la preparación de un producto a base de polyester saturado termoplástico, específicamente politereftalato de etilenoglicol (PET) con características de procesabilidad mejoradas, para obtención de artículos moldeados a base de este, como vía de ejemplo, botellas, envases, películas, etc. El polyester es formado por unidades de ácido tereftálico o su ester derivado y etileno glicol, que sufren transesterificación hasta una viscosidad intrínseca entre 0,55 a 0,70 dl/g de comonómero retardante de cristalización y 150 a 400 ppm de metal procedente de uno o más catalizadores de policondensación a temperatura inferior a 310ºC, pasándose entonces para una post-condensación sólida, la temperatura variando entre 190 y 230ºC por un intervalo de 5 a 25 horas.
