Abstract
Se describe un método para hacer un lente oftálmico caracterizado porque comprende los pasos de: suministrar un monómero a medios de recepción, bombear dicho monómero de dichos medios de recepción hacia un tubo permeable al gas vía un extremo del tubo y a lo largo de la longitud interior del tubo, retirar y mantener una presión subatmosférica alrededor del exterior de dicho tubo, remover dicho monómero del otro extremo del tubo, colocar dicho monómero en un molde y hacer que el monómero asuma la forma de un lente oftálmico, polimerizar dicho monómero a un lente oftálmico de polímero, y remover del molde dicho lente oftálmico polimerizado. El método comprende además el paso de inducir la mezcla de monómero dentro de dicho tubo. También comprende el paso de regresar una cantidad de monómero removido de dicho tubo, el cual está en exceso de aquel requerido para dicha cavidad de molde hacia los medios de recepción. Comprende el paso de mantener un ambiente inerte para dicho monómero removido del tubo permeable al gas hasta que dicho monómero sea polimerizado a un lente. Se describe también el aparato para fabricar el lente oftálmico. La figura 1 es un diagrama de flujo simplificado que muestra los varios componentes de la desgasificación del monómero y el sistema de producción de lentes.
