Abstract
Esta invención se refiere a un método par impartir color a un lente de contacto. Más específicamente, se refiere a un método mejorado para preparar un compuesto altamente puro de un monómero hidrofílico y un colorante. Un método para preparar un monómero hidrofílico que tiene como un grupo pendiente un colorante de halogenotriazina soluble en agua, caracterizado porque comprende: i) añadir una base a una solución acuosa de un monómero hidrofílico y ii) hacer reaccionar el colorante con el monómero hidrofílico; la cantidad molar de base siendo mayor o igual que la cantidad molar de colorante. Se caracteriza porque el monómero hidrofílico es un hidroxiéster de ácido acrílico o metacrílico, siendo preferido el acrilato de 2-hidroximetilo (HEMA) y en una cantidad aproximada de 10 a 65% en peso; y el colorante es un dihalogenotriazina con por lo menos una funcionalidad sulfonato.
