Abstract

Se describe un proceso para el tratamiento y desinfección del agua y/o aguas residuales que incluye la introducción de una solución acuosa en una cámara que contiene agua y/o aguas residuales, una mejora que consta de los pasos de: a) introducir en la cámara que contiene el agua una solución acuosa preparada mezclando, con un pH inferior a 7 y a una temperatura inferior a 120ºF: (1) un hidroxiácido orgánico o carboxílico y (2) un clorito de metal alcalino o alcalinorérreo; b) sellar el contenido de la cámara con respecto a la atmósfera; c) presurizar la cámara a una presión superior a la presión atmosférica; d) retener el contenido de la cámara durante un período de tiempo de no más de 5 minutos, con lo cual se destruyen sustancialmente todas las bacterias, microbios y demás organismos patógenos que se encuentran en el agua.
