DESIGN FOR HINGES.

Specification forming part of Design No. 9,882, dated April 3, 1877; application filed March 16, 1877. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all 'whom it may concern:

e it known that we, FRANCIS T. FRAOKER, and LOUIS WIDMAYEB, both of New Britain, in the State of Connecticut, have invented or produced a. Design for Hinges, of which the following is a. description The design is shown in the accompanying drawing, the two leaves being disconnected. The faces of the hinge-leaves are made as sunken panels. The border of the panels may be left in straight lines or broken up by ornaments, as at a. Above the ornumented part. of the border a is formed the scrollornainent in relief, consisting of the two parts b connected to the center-piece c. The figures on each leaf' are made to fece each other, thus giving a pleasing effect when the hinge is open.

The cylindrical part or knuckle is made and the scroll-ornament b c, as shown in the drawing.

2. The design ofa. hinge-knuckle formed by the arabesque within a. sun ken panel, as shown in the drawing.
