Specification forming part of Design No. 9,223, dated April 18, 1876; application iiicd March 30, N76. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that L'Lconrs F. ALDEN, ot' Brock ton, of the county of Plymouth and State of Massachusetts, have invented or produced a new and useful Design for the Ornamentation of the Insteps of Shoe-Uppers; and do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specification and represented in the accompanying drawing, of which- Figure 1 shows it in has-relief, Figs. 2 and 3 being transverse sections of it.

In such drawings, a a denote two fillets, arranged edge to edge, and between and against two series or ranges, I) b, of projections, in imitation of stitches of thread. The fillets a a and rows b b, as described, are crossed at intervals by short raised fillets d d d, in imitarows of stitches, the crossing iillets r1 1!, and the two arcs, e c, of circles to each of the latter, all arranged as set forth.
