\VlLLIAM TVEEDDALE, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR STREET-LAMP POSTS.
LSpecification forming part of Design No. 8,296, dated April 27, 1875; application filed April 10, 1875. [Term of Patent 7 years] CASE E.
To all `whom yit may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM TWEEDDALE, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for a Street-Lamp Post, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my design for a lamp-post is fully represented in the accompanying print7 to which reference is made.
The top ot'the column supporting the lamp is constructed in the ferm ofthe frusfuxn of' a concave cone, a, with an oval bead, b, at its top, and the plain cylindrical base c. Below the base c is a concave section, d, ornamented with upright ribs, and having the plain band e at the lower end. Below this is another section, tapering from the top downward, and ornainented with the scroll-ribsj', round studs g, pointed figures h, beads i', and the plain bandj. lhe brackets are ornaniented on the upper side by the scroll and leaf shaped figures in, coils I, and on the under side, at the tjunction with the post, b v the coils n. The column o is tinted, and figured at the lower end with the leatornaments p, embellished with the boss q and coils r, below which the base of the col` umn has the ring-beads s and i, with the crestshaped figures 'c between them. Below these beads is a section in the form of a frustuln of a cone, with the rounded base r, and having the scalloped and pointed band 'w around the upper portion, with bosses .r and pendants 1/ z. This section surxnounts a concave section with plain bands a', b', and d', the latter' being in the middle of the groove, together with the circular figures c', encircling a center hoss,j".
The bottom of the base is in the form of two convex conical figures, fixed together at the bases, and ornamented on the surface with the oval bands g', with scrolls h, beads t', three pointed figures, l', and the single points m.
The pedestal has the concave band n', plain bands o and 1J', and the oval fluted band q at the upper end, the tracery r on the middle portion, plain bands s and t and the concave a on the bottom. t
I claim as a design for street-lamp postl. rlhe concave conical section a, with the oval top bead b, and plain cylindrical base c of the top portion ot the column, as set forth.
2. The concave section d, ornamented with the upright ribs, and having the plain band e at the lower end of said section, as set forth.
3. rlhe inverted tapering section of the column ornalnentcd with the scrollribs f, round studs g, pointed figures li, beads i, and the plain bandj, as set forth.
4. The brackets 7u, ornamented with the scroll and leaf shaped figures m, coils I, and coils n, as set forth.
5. The fiutcd column o, figured at the lower end with the leatornanlents p, embellished with the boss q and coils yr, as set forth.
(i. The circular bead-rings s and t, with crestshaped figures a, as set forth.
T. 'lhe conical section of the base of the post, with rounded base yr, scalloped and pointed band te, bosses a, and pendants y 2, as set forth.
8. The concave section of the base, with plain bands a', b', and d', and circular tigures c', encircling a center boss,j", as set forth.
t). The double convex conical basesection, ornamented with the oval hands y', scrolls h', beads i', three pointed gures, l', and single points in', as set forth.
10. The concave band a', plain hands o and p', and the oval tinted hand Q', for the ornamentation ofthe upper end of the pedestal.
l1. The tracer-y r', plain bands s and t', and the concave band u', for the lower portion of the pedestal, as set forth.
