Description

EEEEEEEE S.
F. 8. B0 8 W0 RTH. Fancy Cassimere.
Patented Feb 9, 1875.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
FREDERICK S. BOSWORTH, OF PROVIDEJGE, RHODE lSLANl), ASSIGNOR TO THE \VEYBOSSET MILLS, 01* SAME lLAUl'l.
DESIGN FOR FANCY CASSIMERES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8,052, dated February 9, 1875; application tiled January 18, 1575. [Term of Patent 3% years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK SNOW Bos- WORTH, of the city and county of Providence, in the State of Rhode Island, have invented a certain new and useful Design in Fancy Gassimere Fabrics; and I do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the drawings making a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
The peculiar optical effect of my design is based upon the novel character of the composite stripe A, and said effect is attainable independently of an accompanying lines or figures. In said stripes, the prominent or ruling feature is presented in the four diagonal lines, which intersect with each other alternately at top and bottom, so as to present, at intervals, figures resembling the letter W. The secondary feature is presented in the several transverse bars (1, located between each of the aforesaid ruling figures. These bars serve to etieet a marked separation of said figures.
These composite stripes A. may be employed with or without aeconman ving lines, stripes, and figures, and with plain or fancy woven grounds.
Uolors constitute no essential feature of said design, provided that suflieient contrast is at tained to develop the characteristic features thereof, and produce the optical effect sought in designs of this general character.
\Vhat- I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for fancy eassimere faln'ics, as herein set forth and represented in the drawings.
FREDElilCK SNOW 1;()S\\'Oli"ll.
