In the drawing, A is the knob-rose, and ll 0 is the escutcheon-plate. The ornamentation on the concave face of the rose A consists of a series of septfoils, radiating from the band-line which surrounds the socket for the knob-spindle, the spaces between the septt'oils being occupied with an ornamental leaf-work design, 1). Both the upper and the lower members, B and U, of the escutcheon-plate have their edge bounded by a raised ba1ul,a,whieh delines the peculiar outline or configuration of the plate shown, and the interior space is tilled with ornamental scroll and leaf. The outline at the top of the plate is arched, and surmounted by a pointed tip. The arch-line at the base thereof connects with a horizontal line at each side, which, respectively, connect with a continuous outline, following a vertical straight line, an outward curve, an inward straight line, bisected by an inward curve, and continuing downward by a straight line, and an outward curve terminates in a square corner on the upper outer edge of the rosepla'te. Below the rose-plate, eonuncncin g at its lower outer ed go,
each side has an outline composed, consecumay be varied or omitted altogether; but itis exhibited in the peculiar configuration or outline of the two members of the escutcheonplate B C, producing, in combination with the knob-rose, the effect to the eye shown in the drawing.
\Vhat I claim is 1. The design for a knob-rose, composed of septfoils and leaf-work, arranged substantially as described, and shown in the drawing.
2. The configuration or outline of the escutcheon-platc B 0, consisting of the straight lines and curves, substantiall; as described, and shown in the drawing.
