DESIGN FoR LEGAL BLANKS.

Specication forming part of Design No. 5,972, dated July 2, 1872.

Specification describing a Design for Law Blanks, such as deeds, bonds, mortgages, dre., invented by JEROME B. SHAW, of the city of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York.

A represents a figure at the lefthand corner of the top of first page. This figure is designed or intended to represent a legal gentleman in his oftiee, sitting at his desk, with the emblem of justice over his head and his-client standing at the rear of his desk. Still in the rear is shown a library. rlhis part of my design is surrounded by a border in the form of an ellipsis. Underneath this border is a Bible, upon which lies the sword and pen. At the left hand, lower corner, is a package of envelopes, and at the center, on each side of the ellipsis, are also packages of envelopes. At the top or crown of the ollipsis is an hcurglass, representing time, and on each side of this are the Wands of Mercury; and still to the right of this is the Goddess ot' Liberty, while at the left is a prisoner in chains.

A design for the ornamental heads of a set of legal blanks, consisting ofthe ligure at the top or left-hand upper corner of page l, in connection with the ornamental surroundings, substantially as herein shown and described.
