' NO. 5,929, PatentedJune1T,1872.
inventor,
PATENT OFFICE.-
WILLIAM J. KEEP, OF TROY, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 5,929, dated June 11, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WM. J. KEEP, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Design for Heating-Stove; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a front elevation of a parlorstove constructed in accordance with my new design. Fig. 2 is an enlarged plan view of a section of its top. Fig. 3 is a like view of the molding situated at the base of the upper sec tion. Fig. 4. is ,an elevation of the door-frames and mica doors; and Fig. 5 is a plan View of the molding placed at the junction of the lower or mica section and the base.
Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each of the figures.
One new feature of my invention is the design for the urn A, in which the neck or contracted portion a is provided with a swell. The bowl b is shaped and ornamented as shown, and has its upper side contracted so as to form a small opening, 0, from which rises a bell-shaped funnel, 11.
Another part of my invention is the ornamental design for the top plate E, as distinguished by the rows of ornaments e, f, g, h, i, and k, shaped and relatively arranged so as to present substantially the appearance shown in Fig. 2.
Another feature of my invention is the design for the upper section L, as characterized by a series of rectangular panels, ornamented by means of raised bars extending diagonally across the same in opposite directions, and intersecting each other so as to form diamondshaped fingers, said panels being separated by vertical bars I, as represented 1n Fig. 1.
Another feature of my invention is the de sign for the junction between the stove top E and the upper section L, in which the upper end of the latter swells outward, while said top plate E projects over and beyond the same, substantially as is shown in Fig. 1.
Another part of my invention is the design for the molding M, situated at the junction of the upper section L and the mica section, in which the outer upper edge is provided with a convex bead, m, a plane horizontal strip, a, and an ogee-shaped upward and inward swell, provided with two rows of ornaments, o and p, separated by means of a plane strip, q, the inner edge of said molding being provided with a vertical ornamental strip, 7', so as to appear as shown in Figs. 1 and 3.
Another feature of my invention is the design for the mica doors R and their frames S, in which the hinges r of said doors are so combined with the lugs s of said frames, and with corresponding intermediate lugs t, as to form a continuous row of ornamented work around the lower sides of said doors, which correspond in general style to or with the ornamentation a of the frames above said doors, substantially as is shown in Figs. 1 and 4.
Another part of my invention is the design for the molding V at the junction of the mica section and base, in which is shown the convex corner head a, the horizontal plane strip to, the upward and inward curved portion 0: provided with the row of ornaments, d the small cone. ve bead y, the Whole being so arranged as to present substantially the appear ance seen in Figs. 1 and 5.
Having thus fully set forth the nature and merits of my invention, what I claim as new l. The design for a parlor-stove, substantially as shown and described.
2. The design for an urn, substantially as set forth.
3. The design for a top plate, substantially as specified.
4. The design for the stove top and adjacent end of the upper section, substantially as shown.
5. The design for the upper section of the stove, substantially as shown and described.
6. The design for molding at base of upper section, substantially as specified.
7. The design for the mica doors and their frames, substantially as set forth.
8. The design for the molding at base of mica section, substantially as shown.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 11th day of March, 1872.
Witnesses: WILLIAM J. KEEP.
Aces. H. Enron, MYRON P. HAMBLIN.
