Specification forming part of Design No. 5,459, dated January 2, 187-2.

SPECIFICATION. To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, FREDERICK A. Rita SHE'IQD'J, of New York, in the eounty of New York and State of New York, have invented a eertaiu new and useful Design for Dresslrinnnings; and 1 do hereby deelare that the lollowing'is a full, clear, and exaet deseription thereof, referenee being; had to the aeeoinpa- Irvine; drawing; and to the letters of referent-e marked thereon, which form apart of this speeilieation.

The nature of my design is fully illustrated by the accompanying drawing, to which refe1= enee is made.

A represents a piece of plaiting, the plaits running diagonally, and having laee ll or its equivalent sewed along the sides. lhis pla iting is then folded longitudinallr', the upper fold being narrower than the lower, making the plaits of the two folds cross each other. A

piece of tlutiug', C, is then sewed along; the folded edge, with a narrow ribbon or band, I),

. covering stitehed on the face to cover the raw edge of the tinting. A eolored ribbon may or may not be added between the folds of the plaiting as not be desired. the whole in either case thrilling a beautiful trimming for a variety of purposes.
