DESIGN FOR A GRATE-FENDER.

Specification forming part of Design No. 5,321, dated October 24, 1871.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE BUCHANAN, of \Vashington, in the county of \Vashington and State of Pennsylvania, have invented or produced a new and original Design for Grate-Fenders; and I do herebydeclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof refer enee bcinghad to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my design for fire-tender is full 3' represented in the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made.

Figure 1 is a front View of tire-front grate, and my design for fender when viewed in cross-section.

A represents the fire-front, and B its grate. (3 represents my design of tender, in which D D are handles for manipulating it, and e e f feet or lugs for holding it in position with relation to the grate B. The two feet or lugs e 6 project down on the inside of the bars h i of the grate B, and the foot or lug/projects down on outside oi the bars h 1'. The tender-bars l 2 .i 4 5 6 are secured in or cast to the vertical bars I I and m.
