Specification forming part of Design No. 5,315, dated October 17, 1871.

To all whom it may Gomera:

Be it known that 1, JOHN F. Ernennun, of Milwaukee, in the eounty of Milwaukee, in the State oi'lViseonsin, have invented a Certain Design for Eseritoire, of which the following,l is a specification My invention is an eseritoire or writing-desk, and is constructed wide at the bottom, from front to rear, with ornamental work at the bottom, with a mirror in front hun g a little below its center, so that when it is raised up to a little back of a vertical position it will fall baek oi itself to its plaee, and when pulled down forms a writing-desk, and the top 0f this eseritoire or writing-desk is ornamented, making;l a very tasty and useful piece of furniture.

The nature of my design is fully represented in the aeeompanying,` photographie illustration to which referenee is made, in whieh- Figure l shows the eseritoire with the mirror up and the eseritoire closed, and Fig. 2 the eseritoire open.

A is the body of the eseritoire; B, the lower ornamental work; U, a mirror in the front of the eseritoire; D, theinside work; E,the ornamental work up and down the front on eaeh side of the mirror; F, a drawer and cover on the top of the eseritoire; G, ornamental work on the top of cover F, and between that and shelf H; I, ornamental finish standing on shelf H.

What I claim as my invention is- 1. The ornamental work B, substantially in the manner above described.
