DESIGN FOR A FRUIT-CAN.
The Schedule referred to In these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
The annexed drawing is a partially-sectionized elevation of a fruit-can embodying my design.
According to my improved design the body A of the can has a bulging shape, as shown at a a.
The upper part is formed with successive shoulders B and O, and a neck, D, and the cover F has a corresponding shape, so that when in position it will form, in connection with the shoulders before relerred to, a. symmetrical series of steps.
To aid in sealing, a n'm, E, is applied, in the manner represented.
The shoulder B serves to support and locate the lower edge of the sealing-rim, and the ledge 0 forms the bottom of the sealing-trough.
The bottoms being left off enables my can to be nested very compactly for shipment to manufacturers and dealers.
Claim.
I claim as my design- The combined conformation of the can-body Aa a, the shoulders B O, and cover 1*, as herein shown and described.
