Design No. 4,616, dated January 31, 1871.
DESIGN FOR A SEWING-MACHINE SAMPLE-TRUNK.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
'o all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Flinonnroxi S. lfnriynsroen, f Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illilois, have invented and produced a new and original )esign for a Sewing-Immune Sample-Trunk, ot'whieh he following is a specification, reference heilig had o the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates to sample-trunks or boxes, Jnd consists in Constructing them in a novel manner .s to the arrangement of the interior, so that a sewng-inaehine, or the working parts of one, may he .eenrely paelied therein for the purpose of transportition, and, when the box is open, permit of the nia- :hine heilig operated or exhibited without requiring o be removed therefrom.
In the accompanying drawing-- Figure l is a perspective view of the trunk or hex rhen closed.
Figure 2 is a perspective View, showing the trunk ipen.
A A' represents the two halves of a trunk or ease, ringed together in the usual way, and provided with t look, straps, and handles, as desired. Y i
B is a partition or board, fitted and secured in the l half A', and projecting therefrom, its outer end being shaped so as to fit easily into the hall' A when the trunk is closed.
To this board B the main working parts ofthe sewing-machine are attached in the Sallie manner as they are attached ordinarily to the tops or tables of sewing-machine frames.
It will be seen that when the trunk is open and standing on end` as shown by fig. 2, the sewing-inaohine seenred therein may be operated with faeility in the usual manner. And when the trunk is closed, as shown by 1i". 1, it is packed and ready for transportation, without additional preparation or further trouble than that of looking and securing the straps.
The trunk thus constructed and arranged is of great convenience and utility te traveling agents and others engaged in the sale ot' sewing-machines.
I elaiin as my inventionrlhe design for a sewing-machine sample-trunk, as herein shown and described.
