UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES DESORMOUX, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A URINAL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,617, dated January 28, 1902.
Application filed December 21,1901. SerialNo- 86,858. Term'of patent '7 years.
To a whom it nuty concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES DESORMOUX, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Urinals, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure I is a viewin perspective of a urinal, showing my design, and this figure shows the top, the front, and the right-hand side of the urinal. Fig. II is a left-hand side elevation. Fig. III is a front elevation.
My new design for a urinal comprises an oval-shaped or ovaloid rim a, formed upon and around the upper end of the urinal. The rim a is rounded on top.
The exterior surfaces 1) of the upper portion of the front and forward portions of the upper ends of the sides of the urinal recede or slope, as at b, inwardly and downwardly from next below the rim a.
The rear portion 0 of the upper end of each side of the urinal is convex or bulges laterally and outwardly, as at c. The convex or bulging portions 0 of the sides of the urinal are gradually enlarged in width toward the mm a.
The urinal extends considerably below its upper outwardly-bulging portions 0, and the sides of the urinal below the bulging portions care flat and perpendicular or approximately perpendicular, as at cl, and each side next forward of its bulging portion 0 has a flat and perpendicular or approximately perpendicular surface 6, which forms an upward extension of the straight and flat surface (1 of the said side.
The front of the urinal next below the sloping surface b of the said front is flat and perpendicular or approximately perpendicular, as at f.
At the rear of the upper end of the urinal and contiguous to the rim a appears a rearwardly-projecting member 77..
A flange k is formed upon and around the lower end of the urinal, and the said flange swells or curves outwardly, as at Z, where its forward edge joins the side edges of the flange, and the said edges curveinwardly, as at m, along their central portion.
The leading and characteristic and essential features of my design comprise the oval shaped or ovaloid rim a, appearing upon the upper end of the hopper, the laterally and outwardly bulging or convex upper portions 0 of the sides of the hopper, the flat and straight surface f of the front of the hopper, and the flat and straight surfaces 01 of the sides of the hopper below the bulging portions 0 and with the said surfaces dextended, as at e, upwardly and forwardly of the bulging portions 0.
What I claim is- The design for a urinal substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I sign the foregoing specification, in the presence of two witnesses, this 16th day of December, 1901, at Cleveland, Ohio.
CHARLES DESORMOUX.
Witnesses:
C. H. DORER, VICTOR C. LYNCH.
