UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRED A. DENNETT, OF SHEBOYGAN, WISCONSIN.
DESIGN FOR A VENEER-PRESSING MEMBER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,947, dated August 13, 1901.
A li ti fil d March 28, 1901. Serial No. 53,874. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRED A. BENNETT, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Sheboygan, in the county of Sheboygan and State of Wisconsin, have invented and produced a certain new, useful, and original Design for an Article of Manufacture-to wit, a Veneer-Pressing Memberof which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
, In said drawings, Figure 1 is a bottom view of a veneer-pressing member embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on line 2 2 in Fig. 1. Figs. Sand 4 are cross-sectional views taken on lines 3 3 and 4 4 in Fig. 2, these four views being deemed necessary for full illustration.
The leading and essential feature of my design for a veneer-pressing member consists of the peculiar and novel formation of the lower surface of the same, which is rectangular and bounded by the lines hi, t'j,j 7t, and k h and provided Witha raised portion, hereinafter referred to. The raised portion, starting from indefinite points a a, one in each side, near the points h and it, proceeds inwardly on curved lines to points 12 b, from the points I) b to points 0 c on substantially straight lines substantially parallel with the sides 71. t and j is, respectively, and from the points 0 0 around on a semicircular line touching the point d. From the points a a the raised portion proceeds toward the front edge h is on indefinite curved 13:31 following substantially the curves of tiltnes from the points a a to the points 12 b. The portion of lower surface bounded by the straight edges a 1,1], andj a, the curved line a d a, and the indefinite curved lines from the points a a to the edge h lais in one plane. Located at the center of the raised portion and extending from the front edge h k to a point a little in front of the center of the lower surface is a depressed portion or valley, the bottom of which, which lies a distance below the plane of the flat surface before described, is lowest at the front edge, and from there proceeds back on an irregular-curved line sloping gradually to the center of the lower surface. From the semicircular boundary-line c d c of the raised portion the raised portion slopes upward and inward on curved surfaces toward the inner end of the depressed portion 6. The side slopes of the depressed portion 6 are gradual, and so, also, are the slopes of the raised surfaces from the straight lines I) c.
The several minor features of my design may be stated as follows: The top is flat and its plane is parallel with the plane of the flat portion of the upper surface. The sides are parallel planes and stand at right angles with the top, as do the ends.
Having thus described my design, What I claim is The design for a veneer-pressing member substantially as shown and described.
Signed by me this 28th day of February, 1901.
FRED A. DENNETT.
