Application filed August 6,- 1901. Serial No. 71,107. Term of patent 14 years.
To ctZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS N. ALLEN, residing at Scranton, in the county of Lackawanna and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Clamp Member for Smoothing-Iron Handles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is in the nature of a design for clamp members, such asusually form a part of handles adapted to be detachably connected to sad or smoothing irons, and my design embodies such ornamental configuration of parts as will hereinafter be fully described, reference being had to the drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my design of clamp member. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.
My new and original design embodies a representation of an elongated body portion 1, having at one end lateral ear-like projections a. The other end of portion 1 merges with an enlarged flat oval-shaped portion b, the front end of which terminates in an extension 10 of substantially the same width as the body portion 1, and the said extension 10 is curved downward and inward, as at 10, and then upward at an angle, as at 10", to form a clamping-jaw-like member, and the part 10 terminates in a fiat member 10, that projects inward and lies flat up against the under side of the part 11.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- I The design for a clamp member for smoothing iron handles, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix mysignature in presence of two witnesses.
