To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ELMER H. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chippewa Falls, in the county of Chippewa, State of l/Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Photograph-Holders and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to whlch it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a plcture-holder or card-support.

One object of the invention is to provide an exceedingly simple, inexpensive, durable, and efficient device for the support of pictures, cards, or the like.

Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a device of the character and for the purposes named wherein a single piece of material is employed.

WVith these and other objects in view the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of my mvention. Fig. 2 is a similar view of another form. Fig. 3 is similar view of still another form.

Referring now to the accompanying drawings, and particularly to Figs. 1 and 2, it will be seen that my device consists of a single piece of wire having one end bent upon itself to form the cross member 1 at the rear of the support or holder, the wire having an intermediate upwardly-directed kink whose inner or rear portion 2 inclines upwardly to the top of the front or outer perpendicular portion 3, the extremity of the material opposite the cross member 1 being curved backwardly, as at 4, toward the straight of perpendicular portion 3 and then outwardly, as at 5, the bight 6, formed by the said inward and outward bends, providing a spring projection or hook for engagement with the outer face of the photograph, card, or the like, whose rear face is engaged with the straight or perpendicular portion 3, whereby the photograph, card, or the like may be clamped firmly by the support. It will be observed that the bight 7, between the inclined and perpendicular portions 2 and 3, respectively, is higher than the portion 5 at the outer extremity of the support or holder. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the leg portion 8 of the wire is designed to lie in the same horizontal plane with the cross member 1 and the bot tom 9 of the hook formed by the bight 6, whereas in the form shown in Fig. 2 the inclined portion 2 does not extend downwardly as far as the portion 2 and the leg portion 8 is directed upwardly toward the said inclined portion. In Fig. 2 it will be seen also that the perpendicular portion 3 extends to an equal distance above and below the portion 8, of substantially the same length as the portion 3. With the exception of the differences just mentioned, the forms shown in Figs. 1 and 2 are alike.

In Fig. 3 the cross member 10 is bent from the single piece of material and directed upon opposite sides of the body portion 11 as in the other forms described, but the aforesaid intermediate kink is eliminated, the leg portion 11 simply extending upwardly upon an incline from the cross piece or member 10 and then bent downwardly to form the foot 12, thence directed upwardly and inwardly, as at 13, and then outwardly, as at 14.

The three forms of the invention are composed of a single piece of material, and while I have stated that wire is used, it is to be understood that other material may be used, if desired.

What is claimed is A device of the class described comprising a single strand of wire bent at one of its ends to support an article and having its opposite end portion bent laterally at right angles to its main portion, and thence bent upon itself to form a single leg extending in parallel relation to the right angularly-bent portion and beyond its main portion.
