Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BOLIVER NEWBURY, OF OOXSAOKIE, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A COUPLING-STUD FOR BED-BOTTOMS.
To @ZZ whom t may concern: I
Be it known that I, BoLIvEE NEWBUEY, a lcitizen of the United States, residing at Coxsackie, in the county of Greene and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Coupling-Studs for Bed-Bottoms, of which the following is a speci'- .catiom reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure lis a perspective of a coupling-stud when viewed from its convex side and upper end, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the said coupling-stud when inverted.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material features of my design consist of the horizontal saddle A, having mounted on its convex upper side, at one end thereof, the vertical cylinder B, having through it the circular vertical chamber B', and the horizontally-extended brackets C and D, disposed or arranged in relation to each other and to the said saddle and cylinder, as shown in the iigures. The said saddle Ais shown to be convex on its upper side c and concave in its lower side a', and the circular vertical chamber B of the cylinder B is shown to communicate with the concave-forni chamber A of Vsaid saddle. At one end of the said concave chamber A is shown an end-closing wall E, which appears to be circular in form when viewed from its inner side, as in Fig. 2, while when viewed from its outer side, asin Fig. l, this wall E has the appearance of having its lower half portion c made on a curve from a smaller radius than the curvature of the upper half portion e. The opposite end portion A* of saddle A. is shown to be projected outward from the flat wall portion b of the ver tical cylinderB, of which cylinder the plain flat walls b, b, and b2 constitute the angular half of the wall of the said cylinder, while the convex wall portion h3 constitutes the other half of the wall of the same, as shown in Fig. 1.
The lower bracket C is horizontal in direction of length of the saddle A and also in Itransverse direction and is extended out from i one side edge of the saddle, beginning with its greatest width a1. said saddle and tapering as it runs outward from the latter on lines of the side edges c c. The upper bracket D is extended radially outward from the vertical cylinder B from thev line of junction of the convex wall portion of the latter with its lat wall portion ZJ of the angular wall portion of the said cylinder and is extended upwardly from about the middle of width of the lower bracket C. This upper bracket is shown to taper by its upper edge only as it runs from the wall of cylinder B outward. At the upper end of the cylinder B is shown a step, which projects above the plane of the upper end area of the chamber B of the same.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a coupling-stud for bed-bottoms, as herein shown and described. In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this speciiication in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
