SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,820, dated January 1, 1901.
Application filed December 5, 1900. Serial No.38,840. Term of patent '7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN W. FAUREST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clear Lake, in the county of Mississippi and State of Arkansas, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Staple Puller and Driver, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design fora combined staple driver and puller; and it has for its object to provide a design of this character which shall be both useful and ornamental.
The principal feature of the design resides in a lever provided at one end with a rounded handle portion and at the other with an enlarged beak which tapers on all sides toward its outer end and is oifset slightly from the lever, said beak being provided at its inner end upon one side of the lever with a flattened head and the lever having a projecting portion with a flattened face upon the side opposite to the flattened head of the beak, said projection being substantially diametrically opposite to said flattened head.
A minor feature of the design resides in the beak having one side convexed and the opposite side straight and in providing the straight face near its outer end with transverse notches.
A further minor feature resides in having the face of the flattened head roughened.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of the new design for a staple driver and puller. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the side opposite to that shown in Fig. 1.
In the drawings, 10 designates the lever, having at one end the rounded handle portion 11 and at the other the enlarged offset beak 12. This beak tapers on all sides toward its outer end and is provided at its inner end with the flattened head 13, the face of which is roughened, as at 14. The portion of the lever substantially diametrically opposite to the flattened head 13 is provided with a projecting portion 15. One side of the beak, as 16, is conveXed and the other is straight, as at 1'7, this straightside near its outer end being provided with a plurality oftransverse notchesl8.
What is claimed is-- The design for a staple driver and puller as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
