DESIGN FOR A BADGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 33,275, dated October Application filed July 17, 1900- Serial No. 23,981- Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that LROBERT DUDLEY SCHAL- LER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Badges; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a badge of my new design, and Fig. 2 is an edge view of the same.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of m y design consists in a bad ge displaying on a convex surface a centrallydisposed portrait surrounded by the representation of a horseshoe, and open portions of the field or ground appearing between said portrait and the horseshoe and between the horseshoe and edge of the badge, whereby said horseshoe is thrown into distinct relief.
In said drawings, (1 indicates the conveit face of a badge, and b a portrait centrally displayed upon said face. Around the said portrait is a strip a of open field, and outside of this open strip is the perspective representation of a plain nnadorned horseshoe 0, displaying heel-calks c andatoecalk c and said calks presenting panel or tablet like spaces. The horseshoe c is in turn surrounded by an annular strip a of open field, being thereby thrown into relief, and said open strip a is bounded by the edges d of the badge, to which edges the horseshoe conforms in configuranon.
What I claim as new is-- The design for a badge, as herein shown anddescribed.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 6th day of July, 1900.
ROBERT DUDLEY SCHALLER.
